Did the Neptunes create the best tune of this past decade?

I know it's a lot of Crustin Timberflake haters her (me included) but this song jammed when in came out, did it not?

I think I could name a couple that are better than Senorita.....

This wasn't even the best song on that album, and the Neptunes had WAY better production than this, and there were other songs from people that would make my "best of the decade" list.

Shit, this wouldn't even be in my top 100.

If you had mentioned a N.E.R.D. song from one of their first 2 albums, you could at least make an argument.

This, though? Absurd.

this isn't even the best Neptunes single off of Justified, imo.

I'm actually not a Crustin hater. Don't hate Neptunes/NERD/Pharrel, either. But I didn't dig that song at all. One of my least favorite of his, actually. Personally, as far as JT and the last decade goes I'd put this Tim jam about 175 steps above Senorita. There is no doubt in my mind this would have been an Aaliyah track if she hadn't passed away. Not the lyrics, but the musical ideas that Tim used for this one.

There is something stevie wonder and mj influenced about this song but it is far from the neptunes and justin's best track. It's a real grower, and the chanting and talking at the end is a big WTF to me.

I think their best produced tune of the decade might be Give It To Me-Jay Z or whatever it's called, Hot in Here-Nelly, possibly Rock Your Body-Justin and Like I Love You

I've always thought JT's vocals jarred too much with this music. Something about it doesn't suit.

Rock Your Body worked a lot better with his voice (much more interesting video, too).

If only Michael had accepted this song shrug

though I liked rock your body when it came out and had the CD, I was being a real asshole about it and bashing JT so much cause I was bitter about how mj was being treated in the media

but it's aged so well and I love it now and wish it was his, he would have changed a couple of things too and the beatboxing was totally inspired by his style. Also if this was mj's song, there would have been no superbowl lol

Yeah this and 'Rock Your Body' are annoying as hell. I liked the first two singles from Justified better.

Like I love you feat. Clips is much better.....

I do think Pharrel/Neptunes made a few of the best songs in the last decade..even if it's performed by JT.

(When he went solo I really thought: hmmm...that guy from that boys band.

But now I have both his solo albums, thanx 2 the great producers or not..they are great)

For sure. I don't like Justin, but the groove on "Like I Love You" is killer.

oh god no.

really? no.

I mean, just, no.

Just no, no, no, no, no.

I do like that you attribute it to the Neptunes, rather than JT alone.

But no. Just. Please. No.

I like it but I prefer the other 2 singles already mentioned from this album. The stuff they did for Madonna are great too. From the top of my head, the worst thing the Neptunes did is Gwen's 2nd album, that has some garbage on it...

Yes, any moron can do that. But any moron cannot create music that's actually interesting. It's really not as simple as people think to make something that doesn't sound exactly like what everybody else is doing with software. You may not like their music, that's cool. But it doesn't sound easy, lame or moronic to a whole lot of people. A whole lot of it features live instrumentation, too, btw.

Also, assuming that these guys don't actually know how to play, or that it's just untrained morons using computers to create music is very shortsighted. I know more schooled and trained jazz musicians than I could easily name who are now using software on computers to make experimental, avant garde and drone pieces. Five to ten years ago they would have laughed at that prospect and looked down at you over their upturned noses. lol

I wouldn't say they're untrained morons either, they DID meet at band camp. lol

Always loved this, can't believe they didn't release it from the Clones album.

Sounds better on headphones, though.

Agreed, same argument can be made: thousands of people can play the guitar and the drums and it takes more than that to make music more interesting. Computer makes music a lot more varied.
