I love 90s music. A lot of it was timeless. My problem was with the late 90s moreso. That was when the internet came in and we started getting more one-hit-wonders and trendy groups/acts. Not to say some of them didn't make good music, but music becamse more about the "marketing" than the music itself.

Ya know music started to suck right after the 90's to be honest about it!

the way the 90s were for me : there was (a) electronic music, eg. house, techno, ect and (b) grunge and rock music.

You either fell into one category or the other.

Since I fell into the grunge category, it meant I was only allowed to hang out with the loners, grungers, stoners, skaters and losers at school. The category (a) was the one belonging to the popular kids.

Now, looking back on it, there are some house-music songs from the 90s that I have learned to appreciate, sometimes even only for nostalgic reasons, as some songs got played to death and I was unable to escape from hearing them all the time.

And the (grunge) rock songs of the 90s ... man I still love those. I'm a thirty year old women so I don't really advertise this among my friends - but I still love 90s grunge music music

Looks like somebody missed the 90's thread a couple of weeks ago. There were pages and pages of youtube vids full of people's favorite 90's songs.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Ahhh, Madonna 'VOGUE' ...my all-time favourite song!

Music in the 90s was brilliant, much more varied than the last decade which seemed far more 'trend' driven than ever before. It became more about business than music in the last decade imo.

I don't hate 90's music in general.

Put it this way. If I go to White Castle every day, and all I order and all they serve me are White Castles every day, I can't complain if I don't get a New York Strip or blackened swordfish.

It was as true in the 90's as it is in the 2010's.

You are what you "eat," so to speak.

Besides, sometimes White Castles hit the spot.

I love a lot of 1990s music but the majority of it that I love was never played on the radio and was played mainly in the gay clubs.

As for most 1990s mainstream music (R&B at least), I hate the living hell out of it. Go back and look at the R&B charts from that decade and the majority of them you will be lucky to find even one fast song on the charts. Now, that's a fucking shame. And get on into the middle of the decade and you will see that it became shit hop infested also. I really didn't see any change in R&B whatsoever when the 2000s began and even the 2010s. It's like we're still stuck in the 1990s today.

The 90s were just as good as the previous decades. Sure, many acts and bands were OVERRATED (specially late-90s British techno and Trip-Hop), but now, 10 years after the end of the 90s, you can clearly see who has earned the status of classic and who hasn't. On top of that, the mainstream singles of the 90s were just as good as the classic singles of the 80s, 70s and 60s, something that cannot be said about the 00s.

I really miss the 90's, although some of the songs I loved back then sound like garbage now, while others have aged so well that I may have not cared for them then but I do now.

This!!!

90's R&B and 00's R&B shouldn't even be in the "same" sentence. 00's music basically back in the 80's.
