Updated: Amerie's Latest Single, Album Underway

May 23, 2010

Amerie has released her new single, "Who's Gonna Love You Now."

The single is produced by The Inkredibles and is the first single from the singer's upcoming album, Cymatica Vol. 1. The record is named, according to Amerie, after the Greek word for wave, which also encompasses the study of visible sound and vibration.

In an interview, the singer, who recently became engaged to her longtime manager, revealed that she has learned to play guitar and will be incorporating her new skills into the project.

Amerie's last album, In Love and War, was released last year.

Yup, released in November, though the singles had been out before that.

Maybe she's going for more of an album/year frequency

She is going to put out alot of music, that was the one thing she said, she is going to challenge the machine. She is still working the album overseas, she did some work in Japan and Korea and "Higher" was the track discussed about releasing there. The new album she is working on will reunite her with Rich Harrison on a track or two, but will also see Amerie playing Guitar and breaking in a LIVE band into the recording sessions more than on the last 3 albums. Of course that is what american RB doesnt want.....Instruments and LIVE playing

the thing is that Amerie is not a "seller" and never was, i must have missed the memo on this, but aside from a Top 10 single 1 gold album and then another barely gold album, where is the big seller? since that gold album in 2004 the industry sales dropped 60% why would people think that wouldnt affect all artists?

Her albums are supposed to be post-hiphop, but it ruins the vibe when they put someone current on them, yknow?

Maybe if she did a song with Slick Rick or something.

Yeah the current rappers interrupt whatever she was trying to do. If she did a song with Slick Rick I would buy it. lol

Im not a fan of crossing the genre's, i know the org might not like that kind of talk, but it ruins the flow overall of everything, whether its catchy or this or that, im sure people have there favorite collabos, but overall they are a waste. Lil Wayne was slapped on to Amerie's album last time around, some def jam exec felt that was needed for a hit single, or at least to get more ears, the collabo with Fabolous was a good song overall, but again i can do without the inclusion of the genre crossing.

I mean when i bought a-ha's 2005 cd "analogue" and they had two tracks with Graham Nash (though it wasnt advertised) i was like cool, but really, i dont want him on the record, this is a-ha not a-ha stills and nash. So collabos are a good thing but overall i rarely go ape shit overthem.

Well good for her for picking up an instrument during her career. Hopefully she takes it serious enough and not use it as a gimmick. I wish her well. Let's see if Rich Harrison can produce more hits with her. He's been off the radar for a minute now.

the thing is that the collabos of Rich/Amerie it was mutual ideas being traded back and forth, i know alot of people think Rich was the only brainchild but he wasnt and that was the reason he was not on the last 2 records, he kind of took the "mutual" ideas and used them on artists that were more commercial and mainstream. As far as HITS, i could care less if anything she does charts or is accepting but the crowd, her last 3 albums have been great and thats all i want is to see that "trend" continue

That was good. It says Vol. 1 so I guess she'll be doing the multiple volume thing this time out. Cool. It's also nice to see that she's taking the initiative to learn to play an instrument. Guess she realized that the 'just shaking your ass and weave' trend is played out and opted against it which is fantastic. Maybe we'll see a new era in the music world soon...crossing fingers.

I heard it and it's a good track. I really wish Def Jam would gets off Rihanna's ass and start promoting this girl. She should also reunite with Rich Harrison.

Rich is going to be on the upcoming record, though like i said before alot of the sounds were a mutual collabo between them, since alot of that "sound" was all over the Because I Love it CD, and Rich was nowhere on that record. Def Jam will always promote what is in their best interests, Amerie is viewed as "difficult" which means she has a mind

I couldn't agree more that they collaborated together. That's just a fact. She's no Whitney Houston (who just performs songs written and produced for her). Which is why I said "with" her instead of for her. My point wasn't A was going to have hits now only because of reconnecting with him. But I'm really curious to see what else he has to offer, considering he's been out of sight for awhile.

I like this track more than any of the others off the
last album although i did like the track with Faboulous
a bit and it seems like that single was just released in
March. I see this project getting pushed waaay back.
