Construction of a performing arts center, museum, hotel and mega entertainment complex honoring Michael Jackson and his family are expected to be part of a major announcement today in Gary.

The Jacksons got their start in Gary, and patriarch Joe Jackson is back in the city this week.

Tuesday, he visited his former house at 2300 Jackson Street for an unveiling of a monument to his late son, King of Pop Michael Jackson. Later, Joe Jackson joined Gary Mayor Rudy Clay and Jackson Family Foundation President Simon Sahouri at the Gary Access Center, 839 Broadway, to tape a segment for a local cable show called "Eye on Gary News," hosted by LaLosa Burns, spokeswoman for Clay.

Joe Jackson dropped the words "recording studio" and "golf course" during discussion of the project, but Burns said details of the plan should be saved until today's announcement.

She said that, for years, people have talked about a Jackson family museum and performing arts and cultural center coming to Gary. She asked Joe Jackson why now is a good time for the project.

He referred to The Jackson 5 song, "Goin' Back to Indiana," and said although his son Michael is no longer around, Joe Jackson is here to carry on his legacy. Other stars who started their rise in the city have not returned to Gary, but the Jackson legacy will, he said.

"I've never seen nowhere where they brought something back," he said. "We're bringing something back."

Clay told The Times last week that the project site being explored is close to the Borman Expressway.

Sahouri said Joe Jackson insisted on having this project in Gary to create jobs, continue the Jackson legacy and to make Gary a destination, attracting people from around the world.

Jackson said it's something his son Michael Jackson would have wanted. He wanted to give back to Gary. June 25 marks one year since Michael Jackson died in Los Angeles at age 50.

Other cities wanted this project, but Joe Jackson stood firm on having it in Gary, Clay said.

Clay estimated it will draw hundreds of thousands of people each year, and the development will serve as a magnet, attracting other businesses into the city. In the United States alone, 10 million people are members of Michael Jackson's fan club, Clay said.

"This is our moment in time," he said.

Burns said she's almost certain that businesses will be knocking on Gary's door after today's announcement.

Now Joe,you know darn well that Justin Timberlake brought sexy back.rolleyes

Invincible up tempo tracks are absolutely horrible. The ballads saved the album along with Butterflies which is Mid Tempo. The only ppl that really liked Unbreakable, Heartbraker, Invincible, 2000 Watts, Threatened were 80 percent fans on MJ Forums.

I remember Big Boy on Power 106 which is the 1# station in LA California playing the entire album and he was like when are we gonna get to the good stuff. Thats after they played the 1st 3 songs which he thought were not very good. Once they got to Butterflies that track was the jam to everyone and ppl were requesting like crazy. Nobody was requesting Unbreakable which Big Boy gave the same exact chance. I remember they were like oooooh Biggie is on this but they werent like this is the jam. It was AIIIGHT at best. Not radio friendly. Radio Listeners dont care about a dance track about you pissed off at the world. They want to dance to friendly lyrics like Dont Stop to u get enough, Working Day and Night, PYT...Stuff like that

I still say if Invincible was restricted to just a 9 track album then it would have been a different story.

Even doing a Thriller tracklist for it makes it immediately better - there is just way too much filler, way too much trying to cover all bases and appeal to everyone.

On my ipod Invincible (tracklist based on the flow of Thriller) plays like this.

Side A

Unbreakable

Heartbreaker

Butterflies

Threatened

Side B

Whatever Happens

You Rock My World

Break of Dawn

Invincible

Cry

For those Michael Jackson fans, you have a lot to look forward to this August when Panini releases their 2010 Michael Jackson Trading Card Set. There is no doubt that one of the most popular parts of this product will be the authentic relics which can be found around 1 per case. This will be the first time collectors have the chance of pulling authentic Michael Jackson memorabilia cards from a product. It will be very interesting to see how much those things sell for.

Im not saying not one NON FAN didnt like it, but the majority. I mean when you 1st hear Heartbreaker it sounds so overproduced and at the end it sounds like a video game. Not a track music fans would be likie YO DJ can you bump some of that. The same with Unbreakable. I think Invincible has a good beat but i dont like the vocal arrangement. MJ is straining his voice a little to much.

To be real in the USA in order for MJ before he passed to make a great comeback it would have to be with r&B and hip hop radio. Pop radio, even if the song was HOT they were not gonna show him luv. So the album would have to relate towards the Urban audience. The Ballade were great for Invincible, but the up tempo tracks, wish he would have kept it smoother with the vocals like he's singing about a female or on the dance floor. Listen to PYT, he's singing fast but its clear and smooth. Listen to Off The Wall, he's singing fast but its smooth. I think if he makes those style songs and blends it with Invincible ballads that would have been a awesome album. Just 2 or 3 tracks like that and the album is BANGIN

Could you REALLY see Michael doing something like U Don't Have To Call or Rock Your Body. I'm a total Neptunes stan but those songs for Mike? I'm not too sure about that.

Listening to stuff like Beautiful Girl or even the short snippet of Another Day, I definitely think there had to be at least 5 songs from the 1998-2001 sessions that could've replaced Heartbreaker, 2000 Watts, Threatened, Privacy, and The Lost Children

MJ's estate not part of Gary's 'Family' plan

Gary, Ind. - Joe Jackson announced Wednesday that he's working on a Michael Jackson museum in the family's hometown of Gary -- but Michael Jackson's attorneys are saying not so fast.

Mayor Rudy Clay says the Jackson family has resurrected hope in Gary, and that they’ve picked out a site in town for the complex by Gilroy Stadium, at Indiana University.

But the official Michael Jackson estate -- the people in charge of his money and his children-- say they have not been consulted and have nothing to do with this.

"The Estate of Michael Jackson was never consulted about, nor is it involved in, the Jackson Family museum being proposed in Gary, Indiana," attorney Howard Weitzman told the Gary Post-Tribune .

"Michael Jackson's music, name, likeness, memorabilia and other intellectual property are assets exclusively owned by the Estate for the benefit of his children, his mother during her lifetime... and cannot be exploited legally without written authorization from the Estate," he said.

Weitzman told the Post-Tribune that estate attorneys are working on a "world-class museum... at a site yet to be determined."

Rock Your Body is a sister to You Rock My World. You can hear the obvious influence MJ had on Pharelles writing and arrangement of that song - it is very OTW with a modern flavour.

I hear you - but I was following the flow of Thriller - thus Threatened (aka Thriller number 2) had a place there - and also tried to keep the album only of tracks off it, not outside of it.

And for the record I happen to love Heartbreaker - just a nice frenetic beat, but each to their own.
