McCartney To Reissue Post-Beatles Catalog May 2010 Paul McCartney has reached an agreement to reissue his post-Beatles catalog (solo, and with Wings) through Concord Music Group. The arrangement signals McCartney’s departure from his struggling former label, EMI. The new agreement does not affect EMI’s business relationship with the Beatles. The first reissue under the Concord imprint will be Wings’ classic 1973 album, Band on the Run. The remastered disc, scheduled to hit stores in August, will feature enhanced packaging and rare bonus tracks. According to Concord Music Group, fans “can expect both physical and digital distribution of gems from solo offerings like McCartney, Ram, Pipes of Peace, Give My Regards to Broad Street, and Flaming Pie, as well as Wings landmarks such as Wildlife and Red Rose Speedway. In addition, the re-releases will include stuff done under McCartney's pseudonyms: Percy ‘Thrills’ Thrillington, The Fireman and Twin Freaks.” McCartney’s 2007 album, Memory Almost Full, and his 2009 CD/DVD, Good Evening New York City, were both distributed under Concord’s Hear Music imprint. In a statement, McCartney said: “"Since the release of Memory Almost Full in 2007, I've had a good working relationship with Concord and enjoyed our mutual love of music. I'm looking forward to continuing this relationship with the new catalog campaign. I'm always looking for new ways and opportunities to get my music to people, and Concord shares this passion." http://www.gibson.com/en-...tney-0421/

Sounds good since I'd really like to get a copy of the album he did with Elvis Costello ("Flowers In the Dirt"?).

SMART SMART SMART, he gets a huge cut compared to the pennies that everyone usually gets per cd, he also gets paid straight out, Concord, gets alot of its stuff into starbucks which is where McCartney's "memory" was stocked and moved well, this is a no lose situation, alot of this stuff is long gone, and just available as imports, but the imports sound like shit, and deluxe versions would be amazing for his solo stuff like "Flaming Pie" "Pipes OF Peace" "Tug of War" the first McCartney album and "Flowers in the Dirt" to name a few, i would even be curious for Press to Play which had a few gems on it though it was one of his weakest. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Press to Play is underrated imo. Its VERY 80s sounding...but quality tracks mare on there. But Ram will always be my fave McCartney album...that thing is brilliance.

Same here!! Even his "not so good" stuff has a certain charm. Sometimes I just wonder what the man was thinking... lol. "Mary Had a Little Lamb" jumps to mind immediately. * * *

Maybe during the remastering process an engineer could accidental wipe the 'Give My Regards to Broad Street' masters?
....please. | |

I find it real annoying how artist keep reissuing their cd's to try and get people to rebuy them. I already have all of McCartney's solo cd's in their remastered versions with bonus tracks.... So here they come again with new packaging and probably some new bonus tracks or something but I won't be rebuying them... Of course if you don't have them yet then it's a good buy.

Yeah,it can be annoying, especially if they include "bonus tracks" that aren't featured on the previous remaster.

I don't find it annoying, cuz ultimately nobody is forcing anyone to buy them. I have the prior reissues, but if these are nice packages with additional material, I will definitely get them. * * *

Yes I understand they aren't forcing anyone to buy it....
But it is in a sense exploiting your hardcore fans who buy most of their stuff... Of course, they (the artist) are free to do whatever they want, as is the consumer. But I just find it a little greedy when they keep reissuing the same albums over and over with new packaging and 1 or 2 previously unreleased tracks when they have already released remastered cd's with previously unreleased tracks... It just strikes me as greedily milking the fans. Why not release all those unreleased tracks together on one or two cd set.... Nope, they'll make you buy his entire catalog all over again to get those tracks.

Nope, they'll make you buy his entire catalog all over again to get those tracks. I can understand that... But from a fan standpoint, I love it when artists do this. I would LOVE it if Prince did something similar. I think what's greedy is when artists release multiple items with different formats, different versions for different retailers, different artwork, etc... so that collectors will get all versions. But then again, in this day and age of shrinking record sales, maybe its just smart marketing. In this case, i really think it's about preserving his legacy, and treating his fans to the best versions of his albums possible. Paul has enough money after all. * * *

Given his prolific nature, something tells me Paulie has a treasure trove of rare recordings stashed away. I can hardly wait for the reissues!

Shouldn't a person who already owns the album simply "acquire" any bonus tracks thru the years? Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there

No, it doesn´t. 90% are interviews, the rest are only snippets of songs, like: "Bluebird (Live version - Australia 1975)" - 0:55 "Picasso's Last Words (Drink To Me) (Acoustic version)" - 1:11 "Band On The Run (Northern Comic Version)" - 0:37 There are only two full "new" songs and these are soundchecks of album tracks from 1989 and 1993 The B-side "Country Dreamer" which can be found on disc 1 is also on the standard CD version. Dandruff is the first sign of madness.

May 20, 2010 It was the Internet equivalent of the Fab Four playing Shea Stadium: In the minutes leading up to Paul McCartney's web chat this afternoon, fans went crazy posting praise for the legendary rocker. The Beatle was taking time out from rehearsals for his ongoing Up and Coming Tour — which kicks off its next leg with a 60,000-capacity gig in Mexico City on May 27th — to answer questions from die-hard fans around the world. In the moments before his online arrival, a feed of ecstatic comments updated at a dizzying pace. As one of the more than 4,000 international fans who logged on noted, "Oh God! 8 minutos!!" Once McCartney appeared onscreen (from his studio in Sussex, England), he was chatty, jokey and warm, answering queries that ranged from the legitimate to the ridiculous. Some revelations: McCartney's favorite book is Charles Dickens' Nicholas Nickelby ("It's long but I really love it!"), he is hoping to expand his current tour to include stops in Toronto later this year ("That would be a nice positive answer!"), and the only Mexican instrument he knows how to play is a Mariachi bass. McCartney also took time to urge fans to purchase the upcoming reissue of Wings' Band on the Run, which hits stores in August. "When you actually listen to them, like I did the other day at Abbey Road, the clarity is so good!" he enthused. And he hinted at the possibility of a performance at the White House. "There's been some rumors and I think we can give you a clue," he said. "Think white house. Think playing, white house. If there is an announcement mentioning the White House remember where you heard it first." Some hard-core devotees posed legitimately interesting questions: If the Beatle were to create an instrument, what would it sound like? "It would consist of one long string and you'd hit it with a twig," he said, before making the high-pitched warbly sound of the hypothetical instrument. But there were plenty of wild and crazy queries: Where do you buy your milk from? Do you listen to Justin Bieber? Will you come to my wedding? Boxers or briefs? The whole chat lasted nearly a half-hour and when McCartney logged off he was gracious to the fans who joined in: "Thank you to all around the world for sending in the messages. They're really pouring in!" http://www.rollingstone.c...93,154881]
