Bobby Nunn the undaground funk hero The culmination of everything that is early 80s funk. You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

here ya go 80s pop/R&B flashback: "Rocket 2 U" by The Jets (1987) Interestingly, this song was offered to Earth Wind and Fire for their 1987 reunion album 'Touch The World'.They turned it down, which was probably the right decision. The song is great, but the lyrics are a little too "bubblegum" for Maurice White and Philip Bailey to be singing, lol.

He wasn't underground in my area. He was bad as hell. He had great jams like:
She's Just A Groupie Got To Get Up On It Sexy Sassy Private Party Never Seen Anything Like You Lady Killer Andy is a four letter word.

This is the only information I could find./ Bobby Nunn made his initial funk recordings at home in the mid-1970s, forming his own label to handle their distribution. The results impressed new Motown Records signee Rick James, who invited Nunn to play on his 1978 debut album Come Get It! Nunn subsequently moved to Los Angeles, where he formed the dance band Splendor (3), who recorded one album for CBS Records. When this project failed, Rick James arranged for him to sign with Motown in 1981. The label encouraged comparisons between the two singers, which were fuelled by the suggestive lyrics and rhythmic funk of Nunn's debut singles, "She's Just A Groupie" and "Got To Get Up On It". A collaboration with Tata Vega on "Hangin' Out At The Mall" was a dance hit in 1983, but this success was short-lived; Motown refused to issue the projected follow-up LP Fresh and he was later dropped from the label. I could have swore I read something in the past about his input on the song "Mary Jane" Could probably find more info but I dont really feel like searching now. You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!
