Your right... Dawn gets labeled as the trouble maker but she stood up to Sylvia Rhone and that all about sealed her fate with the group at the time.. and I remember Ali talking about how Mr Saadiq did her wrong..

Exactly.
nod

Can you imagine how the careers of Kelly Clarkson & Alicia Keys would be very different if they had to guts to stand up to Clive Davis the same way Dawn Robinson stood up to Sylvia Rhone?!?

Yeah.. The girls really gave her a hard time for not signing but she knew it wasn't a good deal and she didn't sign and En Vogue never had another hit since that day..

Dawn actually sang on the album that became EV3, but after she wouldn't sign the new contract all of her vocals were removed and they released EV3 as a trio

Not entirely true. Yes, it was released as a trio but Dawn can still be heard on adlibs, especially "Too Gone, Too Long". She also sings lead on the 2nd verse of album cut "Love Makes You Do Thangs". (Cindy,Maxine and Terry each sing a part). Also "Don't Let Go" was added to that album, that's Dawn on lead.

Yeah, they would have been fucked over and unable to sign to another label for 5 years like Gino Vannelli.

Yea, I seen them at The House of Blues in Chicago, I believe it was in 2000 if memory serves me correct. The concert was off the hook, Lucy Pearl was a great combination! It just wasn't the same when Ray replaced Dawn with Joi...

Lucy Pearl was suppose to be a one album experiment ,with Dawn suppose to get her solo deal..she refused to sign up her a second album because she wanted her solo deal..So Saddiq got Joi for album two and Dawn never got her solo deal.

That woman got some big hutzpahs..I'll give her that..

Damn. Why can't the OG members get it together?

They did. The original members have been doing tour dates for over a year.

Dawn is my favorite too. I sent her an email when her
solo album was out and she wrote me a nice letter back
telling me about her album and how her hands were tied
with the single choices.
