the hook is quite important to any song

but uhh this song is more than that sample now in retrospect.

the hook is quite important to any song

but uhh this song is more than that sample now in retrospect.


Its a good debate, but the reason it had its life was the "hook" first and foremost, it wouldnt have gotten heard and caught at pop radio had it not had that "familar" hook. If i took the hook from "Take on Me" which everyone and their mother knows, i could get a song played because of the hook, where as if i didnt have that "hook" no one would even care. with pop today you have to have that hook or repetitiveness to get on.

sorry i thought you meant the original SOS chorus when you said "hook", not the Soft Cell riff
