Also having an early shy period as a kid, I can appreciate the feeling.
In general, the drum machines and/or samples wore me out after a while. I'd have to go with Goodbye Girl by Go West as my favorite of this set. Mos Def trying to channel Marvin Gaye gave me a chuckle. Music for adventurous listeners tA Tribal Records "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. This is a great mix! I was also painfully, painfully shy as a kid, so I definitely relate to the sentiment. The only track I knew was "Run to the Sun", which I adore as well. It seems so rare for the concept of love to appear in mainstream hip hop, and it is as brilliantly refreshing now as it was then. Elsewhere, I really dug the Go West track (go figure being an 80s nut) and Lupe Fiasco. I hear him often paired with Janelle Monae as a torchbearer of intelligent, edgy R&B, and this track did not disappoint.
Great job! Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you! | |
