Gabreilla Climi "On a mission" best new thing of 2010

With new records promised from the likes of Toni Braxton,Jlo, and other female divas of america, the best stuff always seems to come from overseas, whether its Girls Aloud, the Saturdays etc.. females here just cant do pop.

Gabriell Climi is critically acclaimed already and as usual she had an album and every freaking writer put her in a box, they said everything from she is the new Whinehouse(like she was some legend) or the Aussie Joss Stone, u name it this girl got a label, which makes me wish that no one would be allowed to label anyone. Gabriella is somewhat of a work in progress not really having a sound, first record people would think that she was a teen "old woman" for the direction of her style and writing. But on record two she is teamed with Gnars Barkley who has said "she is vocally the best i have worked with yet", her songs are more in the vein of Joan Jett meets Blondie meets Berlin. And before go and say this is a GaGa copy, jump off, GaGa is a copy herself, so save that for the Gaga threads.

The first single is "On A Mission" with its very inventive video, and for those who will say she is showing "skin" she is from freaking Australia EVERYONE shows skin, its a fucking desert at times get real. The album streets March 22nd no US date is planned as yet, as usual we are slow.

I like Gabriela, I enjoyed her song "Sweet about me", released on 2008, btw "On a mission" sounds a lot like "Stepping out" by Joe Jackson does it feature a sample of it?

Liking this one! It's a bit strange though that this track doesn't seem to be out yet in the UK, at least I haven't seen it available for download on 7Digital (iTunes is not an option where I live, so I haven't checked there). Anywho, I hope they release this one soon, as it's a REALLY catchy tune.

I don't think she's a GaGa copy, and it's evident judging by the video that she's a woman..... on a mission. razz
And yes, there's an obvious nod to "Steppin' Out" in the bassline in the verses.

Seriously, I've had this one on repeat since I opened this thread! lol

As far as i know its not a sample though i hear what are saying, i dont have a credits list for the album yet, i do know that she did most of the wrting and that Gnarls did some too and production along with Writer/Producer Brian Higgins who is the mastermind behind Girls ALoud and their chart run, and i can hear that influence in here too, this more UK sounding.

Glad u are liking it, this one hit me right away, i really liked her first album, and thought they slighted her by calling her the next "whinehouse" i mean you can take that so many ways. When i checked on its availabilty i see that just Australia and i believe Ireland have gotten the release and that March 8th is the uk and the 22nd is the album but its not saying that the album will be in the uk yet either on that day. Its funny because she said that she was listening to Blondie nonstop when writing and recording for the album, i just think its great that an 18year old (yes thats all she is) is listening to Blondie!

I posted about this song, the other week.

It reminds me of 'Ooh She She Wa Wa' as much as it reminds me of 'Stepping Out'.
