Unappreciated Music - Rhythm Of the Pride Lands

There was a second album, based on the Disney animated movie The Lion King, called Rhythm of the Pride Lands. African artist Lebo M. did the music on this album. Most of the album is sung in various African languages (there are translations in the album jacket).

There's one song, "Nayona", which already struck a big chord in me. It has that gospel feel to it, and it's just amazing.

    1. He Lives in You
    2. Hakuna Matata - Jimmy Cliff, , Lebo M.
    3. Lion Sleeps Tonight
    4. Kube
    5. Lea Halalela (Holy Land) - Lebo M., Khuluiwe Sithole,
    6. It's Time
    7. One by One
    8. Warthog Rhapsody - Nathan Lane, Lebo M., Ernie Sabella
    9. Lala
    10. Busa
    11. Noyana

The soundtrack is considered a "sequel" to the original. The remakes of "Warthog Rhapsody" and "Hakuna Matata" are really cool. There was a version of the CD later released with "Circle of Life" with Elton John, but it's rare (from 2003). The original album was released in February 1995. I used to listen to this album all the time. It just relaxed me. I love ethnic music, and African rhythms and vocals have always really appealed to me. I'm a white dude from Oklahoma, but I think I had to be a black woman in the womb at some point. haha (And I know my daddy is white too - painfully so.)

Anyway, if you ever find this CD, it's definitely worth a listen. It's moving, spiritual, beautiful, rich, and makes you appreciate great music so rarely heard.

Big fan of "the lion king" and the OST, so thanks for the heads up on this. I vaguely remember "he lives in you" as it was featured in "the lion king" Sequel. Only saw it once though LOL, but I remember it being a good song.

Lebo M and Hans zimmer got hired for "the lion king" after a score they did to an obscure film called "power of one". I found the OST a few years ago and its quite rare now apparantly. Some gorgeous stuff on there in the same psuedo African vein.

"The Rainmaker" is my fav track by far. You can hear "the lion king" straight away LOL. Beautiful stuff...
