Only because it was inconsistent and it didn't showcase Janet's persona well. I liked some of the songs on there (especially "Enjoy"), but a lot of the songs seemed so juvenile to me compared to Damita Jo. I will be the first to admit that I didn't like Damita Jo at first, but over the years, I kept going back to that project. As I listen to it, it was really before it's time. If Damita Jo came out in 06 or 09, she would have had a bigger hit than she did originally. I could definitely hear songs like "My Baby" and "Island Life" getting airplay today compared to when it first came out. I have to agree with the 20YO surmising. It goes in sections actually. The first 5 songs, up to the first segue is VERY R&B and urban, painfully so to some point. The second set is slower/happy songs, and the last set is just throw away stuff. VERY inconsistent. It's not exactly a concept album that can get away with that sort of segmentation. I'm not a huge fan of D.J., but I like it way more than 20YO. I can listen to 20YO all the way through without skipping a track, while with DJ, I only play the singles. Don't get me wrong, DJ is a great album, but it's a little too slow for me.

It puts me in one of those "moods" while 20YO starts off HYPE, then brings the mood down a notch, then finishes off smooth with some nice laid back tracks

I think a Janet ticket would have been a pretty hot commodity in about 1987. i see no reason why she didn't tour except that recurring theme that comes up in her career - mismanagement.
They didn't do that in the 80's. Someone with one hit album was usually an opening act.People didn't start headlining with one album until the late 90's Under certain circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer.

Plus sold out every date she played. It was a good decision to wait to her second album Rhythm Nation1814 to tour. No one wanted to her material from the first two hardly ever heard albums except her diehard fans. So they had the right material to tour with. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.
