For some reason, I feel that Janet will release her next album independently with a record company handling the promotion and distribution. Janet makes more money that way. "Make Me" is the only track on Number Ones that says (P) Queendom. That tells me that may be her record company.

Queendom was discussed here recently by someone. (You?) But I do know that she's back on A&M, and they have said she will be their top priority. Here's hoping.

Frankly, I wish she had went independent and gotten with Target or something for a big push. FUCK, I'm all over Target anyway. Janet + Target = Gay Heaven. haha

I seem to remember JD being let go (he WAS fired, regardless of how he spins it) after the failure of 20 Y.O.. He made some big statement about it. I think it was Virgin's way of finally getting rid of him, since he had such a heavy hand in the production of the album. Things had already grown sour w/ him and Virgin to that point, but 20 Y.O. was Virgin's scape goat for the dismissal.

You're right about the hits. "Enjoy" should have been the first or second single, instead of the R&B heavy "So Excited" (it could have been 2nd single). "Call On Me" is just annoying to me. I'd love to hear a Nelly-free version.

The whole thing was just a serious nod to how horrible JD's production and alleged songwriting can be.

The Superbowl had zip to do with Virgin's choice to promote or not promote the album. It was so OVER by that point. It was over a week after it happened. I've been perturbed by the lack of promotion on Janet's last couple of albums, like 20 Y.O. and Discipline. The record companies seemed to just dump and stop promotion on them both, for whatever reasons. I mean is Def Jam really that pissy about a single that they'd rather just drop the ball on purpose than really dig into promoting a 3rd single from that album? "So Much Betta" went the way of "Come On Get Up" (from All For You). It was screaming for remixes and a hot video, and went nowhere. There was even a promo single for "Luv" sent out, that never materialized otherwise. "2nite", and "Rollercoaster" were also primed to be singles. (Janet even resings the words "2nite" in "Make Me").

I surely hope the new album, with her old label A&M, will do well.

You never know wink

The album might say A&M Records on the outside, but it's the small print that counts.

I like the excitement of that tour and the rawness of it. Since it was her first ever tour that broke so many records at that time. The anticipation of it. Especially when she came here in her hometown of LA the opening show here was exciting for her & me

Yea, and it still holds many records 'til this day. I was at the LA show and she was so incredible. I loved that it was 95% live.

It means that it doesn't matter what label she's on; what matters is the fine print of a contract, and what they're required to do once she delivers an album. Remember how Prince said he and WB inked a $100,000,000 contract, but he stepped away from it, not because the money wasn't great, but because of what the contract entailed. Same thing.

Honestly, it's a bit busy for Janet to be anywhere in there. It'd be like "Pitbull featuring a bit of Janet" I pray to God her album isn't a bunch of shit hop like this. Please just do a fucking dance album. No "lick my pussy" ballads, just dance. Go the Madonna route (Confessions), and just let the folks enjoy what she does best.

I'm not feeling it either - it sounds messy to me and I usually consider Pitbull's music to be novelty.

I'm so surprised that Janet's record label allowed her to release sexually explicit music since SB.

Her only worthy sex song this decade is 'take care' and maybe 'love 2 love'. 'Moist' is a bit of a guilty pleasure, re-working some of the lyrical content would make it a great song.

It's going to be featured on both albums and the song is NOT finished! We don't even know if it made the cut!!

For some reason, I think this may be just a "teaser". I can definitely hear this on a Pitbull project. He is hot now and I think being on a track like this is good for exposing her to a different audience.

That's bullshit. The Super Bowl is OVER. She didn't say "FUCK" on TV or something. she accidentally flopped out a fun bag. Big deal. It has NOTHING, never did and never will have, to do with her music. She has enough clout to release what she wants.

Yea, it's a teaser but the full version will be posted by Rodney on Feb. 15 smile and I agree that it's good exposure. I really can't see radio trying turn away from this if they do it sounds like they have a personal problem with Janet.

and midiscover, It won't be on Janet's upcoming album.
She's a feature on Pitbull's upcoming album but I think he will return the favor with a different track.
