At first, it seemed "lite" to me. It wasn't as substantial visually as something like The Velvet Rope (heavy curtains, big braided ropes, moving screens, tri-level stage (same one that Cher used later on), and dangling chandeliers), or the janet. tour with it's multi-level, flat screen heavy stage setup. All For You was one big flat stage, no real lifters or levels, other than for the band, and a pseudo-catwalk that came and went at will. There was a lift from the middle of the stage (which was only used once, that I remember, on the regular tour, and twice for the Hawaii show - one being for Missy Elliot's quick rise and fall mid-stage). All For You was very much of a stadium type setup (look at Tina's One Last Time tour setup versus that of Wildest Dreams, it's the same comparison with OLT being an outdoor setup), whereas Velvet Rope and the janet. tour was more compact (yet still big), and had that "inside" feel. Although George Michael didn't use the horse shoe shaped catwalk for his Live In London DVD, he did use a basic runway, which got him out into the audience. The horse shoe was really for the stadiums, and the runway was for indoors. There were some shows without any catwalk or runway, too. Despite the levels and the complexity of the stage and screens, I still felt 25Live was an indoor tour, although it had plenty of outdoor dates in Europe. In the end, I think people like that "indoor" feeling. It's like a bubble of a world for that artist, and you're part of it. An outdoor setting has multiple distractions with sunset, planes, traffic noise, or whatever is going on. That doesn't always appeal to people. It's like watching TV outside. It's just better inside sometimes. . [Edited 1/26/10 18:46pm]

But it would've been cool if she had a Control tour with performances like this - U sure tina isn't in the WHYDFML video? yes tina is in the video, she has on the sailor hat. janet has said she didnt tour with control because she didnt feel she had enough material. i saw her perform at the ice capades in nyc.

Janet did donate her VR stage and props to Cher's I Believe tour Also that's why I love the TVR tour so much! Because it felt like we were in her "comfort zone". It went with the whole vibe of the album too.

I had to laugh at the "donation" thing. I noticed a LOT of similarities between those two tours, Cher lifting a lot of ideas from Janet. Just in approach, sequencing, etc, not to mention hunky guitarist Dave Barry was also in both tours, as well as fabulous backup singer Stacey Campbell, and keyboardist Darrell Smith.

The staging The outfits The music arrangements (or lack thereof) The choreography The "new" song choices So, it wasn't necessarily Janet, it was the overall show that I didn't like. I liked the mixture of old songs, but I just thought that there were better songs on Discipline for her to perform other than "Never Let U Go" or "So Much Betta". "2nite" should have definitely been in the show. So should have "Can't B Good". BTW, I don't think Janet was really "chubby" on that tour. She is naturally "thick" and I have NO problem with that! Those wobbly moving J's I loved the catwalk I hope that's on her next tour. Yea, I didn't like Never Letchu Go Curtians would've been better instead. Really an embarrassment compared to her classics (Funny How Time Flies, Again, etc.) But I loved that she performed Funny How Time.. and Discipline. Also the Pre-Control songs were a nice treat. I wish she would add some Damita Jo and even some 20 Y.O. songs wouldn't hurt. Yea, me too!

I was so glad "Funny How Time Flies" was added, too. That is probably her biggest non-single on radio. It still gets a lot of airplay. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

LOL @ working with her. Picking up her used water bottles at a CD signing isn't really "working with her". It's not like you were a dancer, a musician, on tour, on a record, a singer, a producer, or anything of the like. Or were you the winner of one of the four horrid CD covers that fans did for the 20 Y.O. album? Those were horrid.
