I'd rather listen to The Rainbow Children than Tom Petty. Barely.

My two favorite albums of his are 'solo' albums (sans the Heartbreakers).

I don't own all of his albums and I don't really follow his work like I do some other artists' stuff, but I really played out Full Moon Fever, back in the day ("Zombie Zoo"!!). My favorite Tom Petty album is Wildflowers. I can listen to it all the way through without skipping a track. "You Don't Know How It Feels," for me, is his best single to date, and "Only A Broken Heart," is a beautiful song.

They've had some very good songs/albums over the years.

When I lived in Gainesville (early 70s), I saw Tom Petty/Mike Campbell/Benmont Tench in a band called Mudcrutch.

These guys have worked hard to get where they are.

Can't say I have a single disc or platter of his/theirs, but I don't cringe when it is playing at a restaurant or whatever.

I thought it was so cool to have Kim Basinger in the video. This is my favorite Petty tune probably.

I have fond memories of this one:

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are a great band. They are not the type of musicians that will blow you away, but I have always beem impressed at how tight they are live. Tom is underrated as a songwriter.

No, not my style of music. Plus, I think he has a terrible voice. I really hate the sound of it.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was a great band in the day! I went to see them in the early 80s and they were great! Don't know about his concerts now but he put out some memorable songs. Breakdown, Refugee, Freefallin'... Some really good stuff! wink
