Well real singers make faces because their heart and soul is into the music. BUT on the other hand, it sounds like that concert is boring as hell.

Exactly, that tells you they're feeling the song..like most soul singers who know how to feel a song and express it that way, and not worried about how their facial expressions come out.

Thank you clapping

Fantasia is screaming the song and not singing it, and actually that's the best I've seen her look since she's been out there. She must have a new stylist and hairdresser.

Angie stayed on key. Ledisi, Erika and Fantasia pretty much went off key a little. They need Leela James, that's who they need.

Oh shit, I forgot about her..hell yes they really needed her!!!!

It sounded to me more like she was vocally masturbating. Squeezing every bit of melismatic "aretha-esque" vocals out of those notes. Didn't enjoy the performance at all, those facial expressions she made didn't help either.

...IN other news Fergie and Mick Jagger. I'm sorry I just can't get into this "rock and roll" concert. It's so..sanitized rock to me is supposed to be dirty and sweaty, non-establishment. This concert's just missing that.

Well real singers make faces because their heart and soul is into the music. BUT on the other hand, it sounds like that concert is boring as hell.

That is true sometimes. nod But the best vocalists I've ever seen do not make faces like some type of theatrical comedy skit like Chrisette Michele. I saw her doing that on "The Brian McKnight Show," and immediately turned the channel. lol In her case, all of that is unnecessary.

They do have one, its down in front of the stage.

I understand that/ All I'm saying is her unusual facial contortions were off-putting for me.
Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

I admired Ledisi for wearing that short mini dress with those thick legs she got. I got thick legs like that too, but I feel like I need to slim down some more before I get back into my mini dress.

Well, I guess some folks aren't used to real soul music. Chrisette Michelle has a beautiful voice.

If you want to talk about making faces, I think Mick Jagger made the ugliest... since he is, so it wasn't that hard for him.

Ummm how was the show coonery? I don't think it was at all.
There was no Lil' Wayne, no 12 people getting on stage when somebody won...so you tell me where the coonery was at? This has been the first all black awards show that I've seen in a long time that didn't have an ounce of coonery in it.

I really don't see what all the hype is all about. Homegirl can't sing a lick. She's just skinny and what's "in" for right now. She can't really dance all that good either. At least not to me. She's just there. I don't see how she feels like she should have all this respect. I don't see where she is doing anything different, I don't really see any talent there.

She better hurry up and rack up her 15 minutes of fame. Here today, gone tomorrow. lol

Well, actually there wasn't any coonery. As long as Lil' Wayne, Lil' John and Flava Flav wasn't on stage, then everyone else was safe. lol (hmm Well, I hope flava wasn't there)

It was good to hear some good r&b, and real singing and no lip-synching.

and that made it coonery? You could barely hear them because Charlie's voice carried over K-Ci's so I still don't understand how that one performance would make the show "coonery" as you put it.

I really tried watching but some of the performances just weren't for me. Like Trey Songz, Toni Braxton, etc.

And I'm sorry but the Gap Band should've been honored, not Charlie Wilson. Sorry lol

I'm glad they did. They brought some cute, light humor to the show. Also, it's not a crime for Black people to have humor on any show, as long as the entire show is not minstrel like the BET Awards.

And why not? I thought that they were quite funny...they shouldn't have been singing at all, those parts made me cringe, but other than that, I think they kept the show from being boring. Who else would you had, had hosting it? Monique again? Steve Harvey? Katt Williams?

Well still don't see how you can judge a whole show as "shitty" where you didn't even watch the whole thing...but to each his own. Can't please everybody. I thought it was a great effort and I enjoyed the show.

Well maybe if you could have been on the board to had made that decision then you could have had a voice in it, but since you weren't then, oh well you didn't have to watch it. No need to put such a negative overcast over the whole show just because of that.

Umm, ok. No one said she isn't a good vocalist. On audio, she sounds great. But her performance style is distracting, not enhancing. Making involuntary facial expressions (such as frowns or squints) like Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, or even MJ while singing is very different from the drama Michele shows. lol I'm not the only one who sees that, lol. But she's getting paid for it, so cool, enjoy it if you like.
