nod he was excellent!!! Hit all the notes and everything. It would had been so neat if they would have had El up there with him too....but Chico held his own. Definitely.

I loved Raheem's performance. I wonder if Raheem will catch hell from his fans for singing about a social ill like Prince did in "Dreamer?"hmmm Anyway, on topic, it was a good performance, and great to see Public Enemy up there. Raheem's voice reminds me of Al Green.

Yeah Raheem is the next big thing for real. I don't see why he gets slept on. As far as male r&b soul singers out here today, right now, he's the best.

Chrisette Michele is on now and you know she is cleaning that stage up. She can sing circles around Keri Nilson, yet Keri is racking up the soul train awards rolleyes...politics.

And Raheem DeVaughn and Chrisette Michele are real life cousins.

Is it me, or does this show look very tacky (overall)? I cannot stand the set or the stages. It looks like they are in a high school auditorium.

hmm, doesn't look that way too me. I thought that Keri's performance was like a high school performance...other than that, the show has been better than I expected it to be. It's way better than the BET awards.

I really don't see what all the hype is all about. Homegirl can't sing a lick. She's just skinny and what's "in" for right now. She can't really dance all that good either. At least not to me. She's just there. I don't see how she feels like she should have all this respect. I don't see where she is doing anything different, I don't really see any talent there.

Yes, I love Raheem's voice. He has that kind of soul in his voice that's lacking in the industry. So does Anthony Hamilton. My sister is a major fan of Chrisette Michele. Her cd is awesome. I just became a fan of hers. So Raheem and Chrisette are related, interesting. I see talent runs in the family. I'm glad that the Soul Train Awards didn't turn into a minstrel act. So far, not a bad show.

I can't understand why Keri is racking these awards up. She and Ciara are basically one of the same...trying to be carbon copy Beyonces.

I like the performances, but the audience is too far away from the stage.

MAN, that Soul Train Awards show sounds horribly boring. lol It'll never be like the 90s again, that's for sure. Every year that show was exciting to watch back then.

It sounded to me more like she was vocally masturbating. Squeezing every bit of melismatic "aretha-esque" vocals out of those notes. Didn't enjoy the performance at all, those facial expressions she made didn't help either.

...IN other news Fergie and Mick Jagger. I'm sorry I just can't get into this "rock and roll" concert. It's so..sanitized rock to me is supposed to be dirty and sweaty, non-establishment. This concert's just missing that.
Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

Well real singers make faces because their heart and soul is into the music. BUT on the other hand, it sounds like that concert is boring as hell.

Exactly, that tells you they're feeling the song..like most soul singers who know how to feel a song and express it that way, and not worried about how their facial expressions come out.

Fantasia is screaming the song and not singing it, and actually that's the best I've seen her look since she's been out there. She must have a new stylist and hairdresser.

Angie stayed on key. but Ledisi and Erika just went a wee bit off key. They need Leela James, that's who they need.
