i think those would be my picks. RHCP deserve to as well, i just don't think their impact or influence was THAT great. Laura Nyro gets an honourable mention. she's definitely been influential but but it i feel the same. Genesis..hmmm i don't know. i think i'd just give it to Peter Gabriel. i think his solo works are much more relevant.
all matter of opinion on these things anyway.

hopefully,Donna Summer will get chosen this time.

The ones in bold who who I think will be voted in. Jimmy Cliff should be voted in, and Laura Nyro and Darlene Love deserve to be in but will probably be overlooked, but for some reason they will hold off on Donna Summer and the Red Hot Chili Peppers and wait to vote them in later.

Genesis deserves to get in, for sure.

These aren't bad nominees. Most of them are deserving.

This is LL Cool's first year of eligibility and he's certain to get it, so I'd like to think that Jimmy Cliff would be the pick now.

But that's probably wrong as hell. Oh well. Not my money.

I try to imagine that 5 groups and/or solo artists are starting in 2009 that will build legendary careers and wonder if that's about right? I still don't know.

This should be difficult. And it should be a learning experience for all, not a place for people's narrow list of favorites.

And I'm certainly not talking about you, as your favorites seem to cut an extremely wide path.

I'm glad that the HOF is recognizing Genesis, progressive rock has for too long been completely ignored. RUSH needs to be on the shortlist for induction next year, hopefully.

K from what I'm reading all the former and current members are included which is bout a total of 10 or so. I was just wondering cause of the years that need to pass before a band can be selected, which would be around the early 80's era of Genesis which honestly was really going down hill.

I think The Hollies should be inducted eventually, but there are others I would put ahead of them. Jimmy Cliff, Laura Nyro, LL Cool J and the RHCP... arguments can definitely be made for each of them and I don't think any of them is undeserving, but again I think there are others that should be in before them that weren't nominated.
