I don't think it's being "gay friendly" per se... I mean, look at Madonna.

I think it's more to do with her embracing camp - much moreso than any comparable act.

The Brits understand camp implicity. It's ingrained within us, from an early age.

Kylie is more overt in gayness than Madonna has been in a very long time. The last time Madge was openly as gay friendly as Kylie is now was 93. Madge has even gone to using mostly straight male dancers.

... straight male dancers?

Now that's just silly.

KYLIE MINOGUE
By Wendy Gilmartin

Kylie Minogue
It used to be so easy to dismiss seemingly manufactured, dance-music mavens like Kylie Minogue, but that was before independent music embraced dance and poppy electronica, and held DJs, turntablists and mixmasters in high regard. The line between multidimensional diva and endlessly programmable femme-bot is a blurry mess nowadays, and Kylie Minogue is strategically centered in the midst of it. She's been remixed by iconic, electronic heavies like Chemical Brothers and Fischerspooner, and therefore acquired some definite club cred since the days of "Loco-Motion." (And the Stannard and Gallagher–produced "Love at First Sight" is arguably one of the catchiest dance hits of all time.) But it's possible her anything-goes fashion prowess has given her career the biggest boost overall. Like Madonna once was, she's Jean Paul Gaultier's It-Girl now, and that brings us to the hard-to-believe fact that this is Minogue's first U.S. tour, and subsequently, her first show in L.A. — remember, she's been performing since 1989. In terms of over-the-top eye candy, tonight's multimillion dollar spectacle of costumes and staging — including more than a few custom-made, Gaultier wardrobe changes throughout the night — shouldn't disappoint.

OMG Great SHOW!

We got to the Fox Theatre at about 4pm. The floor was general admission and standing room only. When we arrived the line was all ready around the block but not dreadfully long we'd still get a pretty good spot. I would have to say at this point in time that the crowd was 100% gay. Not a female in sight. As the evening progressed a few women showed up but it was still mainly a gay men. We were told standing in line that the opening act would start at 745 and Kylie would take to stage about 830. The doors opened at 645 and it was every screaming queen for herself as people starting running to get as close to the stage as they possibly could. We opted for the second level of the floor right next to the railing dead center stage. There was no one at that level and seemed like the best place to be. The crowds just kept getting bigger and I think it ended up being about 98% gay. We spotted one straight boy with his girlfriend. The opening act turned out to be a piss poor dj. But oh well. Kylie's overture started at right at 830. The first concert I've been to in a long time where the show started right on time

She started off with Light Years descending from the ceiling on the giant Disco Skull from the X Tour. That was followed by Speakerphone and Come Into My World. I'd never heard the mix of Come Into My World and the choerography for both was totally different from anything she had done before. The stage was similar to her Money Can't Buy It one off concert. She than chatted a bit before heading into the XTour version of In Your Eyes. She was dressed a very lady gaga type dress with plants on her head gear and the dancers were dressed in a black version of the opening costume from the Fever Tour.

Than started the medley of hits from the Showgirl Tours. She was sporting a short little black and glitter number. The dancers are Marco Da Silva, Jason Bitrell, Jamie and Rocko and the girls names escape me. The band is the same from the X Tour. Shocked, What Do I Have To Do and Spinning Around which included a longer outro with a dance break for the dancers to show everyone what they had. That was followed by the new song Better Than Today.

Next up Like A Drug and Boombox/Can't Get You Out of Head in a white version of the outfit from X Tour. The choerography was the same from the Xtour. That was followed by X which was done in the style of the Money Can't Buy It Tour and very HOT!!!! I do love that song. This part of the set was closed off with 2 Hearts.

The shower music started and I think the whole place knew it was time for Red Blooded Woman/Where the Wild Roses Grow. It was a mix of the choergraphy from Money Can't Buy, Showgirl Greatest Hits and Showgirl Homecoming. She wore a cat suit with panels taken out to show her legs and the boys were wearing stars and stripes briefs. The Sex interlude carried them into a medley of HeartBeat Rock and Wow. The girls as cheerleaders and the boys as Football Players. My first surprise of the night. I had checked the set list so that was a bit of shock to see the way she did that.

The next up turned into the ballad section. The video monitors where showing the Hollywood Diva video from Showgirl and the music was somewhere over the rainbow. When the screens lifted Kylie was reclining on a couch with gold lions , very art deco in a great gown she had some trouble walking in singing the ballad version of White Diamond!!! Jason came out dressed as a waiter and did Confide In Me another song I didn't expect to hear. Which was closed out by the ballad version of I Believe in You with the whole place singing along.

Burning Up/Vogue came next, than the one thing i was praying not to hear the Big Band Version of Locomotion. I started feeling a bit faint from the heat and not eating before hand so I missed Kids and Most of In Your Arms. But I was back to full screaming queen mode for the encore of Better the Devil You know, a cappela version of the One which turned into the Freemasons mix and closing out with Love at First Sight.

We could tell she didn't know what to expect when the show started but by the end she was visually impressed and touched by the reaction she got from us. I'm soo glad I got to go see her!!!!
