Yeah, I can't see "Live to Tell" not making the DVD cut.

i'd definitely incude it. but i can see them not adding it because of the rights to the movie possibly or it not being considered one of her more groundbreaking videos. shrug

I'm pretty much on the same page with you here (except for the "Miles Away" comment lol) To be honest, I couldn't stand Madonna when she first came out. I thought she was an empty pop act. I continue to feel blasé about her early work, although I've recently begun to appreciate her first album a little bit. It was never my type of thing. What turned me onto Madonna was her brash personality and a fearlessness that came from an underlying intelligence which I could not help but admire. When I found out much later in the game that she was doing some tantalizing experimental work, I became attracted to her music. Bedtime Stories was the first album that caught my ear. I find her later songs to be far more compelling than her early work, as they better suit my taste. And her concert use of video/performance/music is absolutely stellar.

One thing that sets Madonna apart from her contemporaries, like MJ and JJ, and the people she has influenced is her use of the concert experience as a piece of Performance art vs just the standard I'm going to entertain you. The messages in all of her show is something the others just don't do.

Exactly. She is interested in ideas as much or even more than the music. She has things to say that have nothing to do with music, and it's extremely powerful. My main disappointment with the Hard Candy era, was that her show lost a lot of the controversy and mental provocation.

I agree. To be honest with you,I didn't really become a Madonna fan until the 'Like A Prayer' album. These days,I rarely listen to the first three Madonna albums.I,too, thought she was an "empty pop act" with those albums.Like many people,I had no idea that she would grow, evolve and transform herself into a "real artist" who could be taken seriously."Live To Tell" caught my attention in 1986,as did "Papa Don't Preach".These tunes are much more serious and meaningful than the bubblegum pop stuff of the early albums. But it wasn't until I heard 'Like A Prayer' that I really became hooked.Since then, she's gone in all types of interesting directions, with each new album sounding much different than the previous one.'Erotica' and 'Ray Of Light' are my two favorite Madonna albums.I like the fact that I can listen to any of her albums and find something that I like. This isn't the case with all of my favorite artists.

Now that you mention it, I do remember "Papa Don't Preach" catching my attention. It was such an unusual thing to hear on MTV - a young pregnant woman speaking up to her father about her choice.

aside from her now standard spiritual and save the earth messages that were in get stupid and lap there wasn't much of anything thought provoking in the rest of the show. which i guess is ok it was like her first two tours that focused more on just the music.

Those were dark times in the Madonna world imo.

Only good thing out of that was Live To Tell and the very very underrated title song. Is that going to be on it? Probably not. It appears this new set is made by new jacks. Those who came into their own like after 95.

And "Nothing Fails"? Latest Rumor: This is the final tracklist, according to Warner Spain

Disc 1---
Everybody
Holiday
Lucky Star
Dress You Up
Material Girl
Like A Virgin
Into The Groove
Who's That Girl
Crazy For You
Open Your Heart
Papa Don't Preach
La Isla Bonita
Live To Tell
Like A Prayer
Express Yourself
Hanky Panky
Vogue
Celebration

Disc 2---
Erotica
Deeper And Deeper
Rain
Take A Bow
Bedtime Story
You Must Love Me
Ray Of Light
Frozen
Music
Don't Tell Me
American Life
Die Another Day
Hung Up
Get Together
Miles Away
4 Minutes
Revolver

thumbs up! I like this tracklist alot more than that rumored Japan tracklist.Neglected hits like "Who's That Girl" and "Dress You Up" are included, which would make many fans happy.

The only song that I would remove is "Hanky Panky",a novelty hit that really doesn't need to be here.Replace it with either "Causing A Commotion" or "Justify My Love" and this set would be perfect.

Both of those tracklists are fake, this latter one was created by a fan, claiming that Warner Spain leaked it, just to make it more reliable.

Obviously they would not use "Hanky Panky" over "Justify My Love" and judging by the hints, not very likely that both Erotica & AL would get more than 1 song.
