Yet he sanctioned 'The Ultimate Collection'. Then Prince... we all know what HE is like.   Yet we've had the 'One Nite Alone... Live!' box-set and 'Crystal Ball' compilation. He, apparently, hates looking back too - and has said he'll never sing certain songs again... Fast-forward a few years and he's doing Greatest Hits tours and performing '1999' yet again. 
Madonna, on the other hand... she has REALLY stuck to her guns on this issue. It's quite frustrating as a fan; but I also admire her for it. To think some people still think she's a pop puppet or a slave to her producers...  I don't think we'll EVER see another female artist achieve as much success, control or impact as Madonna.

I always laugh at the idea that Madonna is a "puppet" or a "slave to her producers" I can't think of too many other female pop artists who have the same type of control that Madonna has...complete control over her image,her sound,her style,her career.For her entire career,she's been able to do anything that she wants to. | |

Just the very idea of what you suggested...  When even MJ and Prince have released Box-set/outtake collections, it really surprises me that Madonna won't budge. If anything, you'd think she'd be the FIRST to do it!its highly furstrating, but in keeping with her constant need for full control. She throws the odd curve ball out - like the Remixed & Revisted EP that randomly included Your honesty.....that was....odd. I love that she hates to look back, and i guess she figures this stuff can be released when shes old(er) and not making music. That said I think she should get the full Anthology treatment - include rare early recordings, plus alternate takes, live recordings, unreleased stuff, demos etc. Id love to hear more of her early stuff with Steven Bray, her version of Sidewalk Talk, the LAP outtakes, the Shep Pettibone sessions for Bedtime Stories, the unmixed songs from BS, the Babyface sessions from ROL, the unreleased musicals with Pat Leonard & Joe Henry..... | |

"Don't You Know" is excellent! I like it even more than "Lucky Star".All they needed to do is "enhance" the vocals....bring it closer to the front.Otherwise,it's a superb dance track. | |

I've come to learn that most of my favorite Madonna singles are some of her least successful:
"Burning Up" "Physical Attraction" "Gambler" "Dear Jessie" "Oh Father" "Hanky Panky" "Bad Girl" "Bedtime Story" "Nothing Fails" "Mother and Father" (if it counts) All among my top 20 Madonna singles. I'd much rather listen to any of those than "Holiday", "Borderline", "Like a Virgin", "Papa Don't Preach", "La Isla Bonita", "Vogue", "Take a Bow", "Music", "Don't Tell Me" or "4 Minutes".Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you! | |

It's the OVERALL level of power and control that she wields that is unmatched. She's not God.

You can buy the "Celebration" single for 99 cents on Amazon, with the real cover. At Itunes, it was released with that initial cover that just had her name and "Celebration' written in that grafitti sytle. So go out and buy it!

I love Celebration. It's mindless Europop with Madonna, what can't i love about that? I think it will do well throughout Europe. It's at #7 on amazon.com downloads. As usual Madonna sells right out of the box. With no airplay this is bound to plummet. But I'm enjoying it anyway. | |

I think you need to be in consulation with Madonna!! I want a full on comprehensive Live DVD Box Set of Madonna. Every tour I want commentary from Madonna, the tours art directors, music directors, choreographers, costume designers and maybe some behind the scenes of what's going on back stage as the show goes on in the front. If it is something I want immediately like this (and Madonna's other first singles from albums like "Hung Up") I will buy the track. I'm not going to go nuts and buy multiple copies hoping for it to be a hit, but one is fine. In fact, I'm starting not to buy Madonna's maxi singles (haven't bought one since "Jump"). It's just too much money for bad remixes! | |
