thanks for the link.
this is such nondescript, uninspired eurodisco trash... i can't see this doing anything anywhere. suffers from the same barely melodic problems that so much of her stuff has on the last 2 albums. i wish she'd stop talking during her records. i like the little throwback giggle, though. i'm not at all excited about this and probably won't even give it a chance to grow on me, but it's an okay throw-away single. I'm loving this cover- reminds me of her earlier artwork (Burning Up etc), it has a New York loft apartment party feel to it- kind of the scuzzier cousin of the "Get Together" cover...though the smoking on the front will probably get it banned in the UK I'm resisting the leak today as I hate listening to new tracks for the first time on computer- call me old fashioned, but I'll wait until the physical release...it does seem to be getting a positive response so far- cool! Go on Steven - you can do it.
Yeah, I'm hoping this is not the direction of the next album... although I doubt that... I think it's just a one-off. Plus, most 'Best Ofs' tend to have an upbeat, dance song as their lead single. It serves its' purpose, I guess. It reminds me of a cross between 'Get Together' (strong influence) and 'Bedtime Story'. Fun track. 'Bedtime Story' edit - forgive me, Madge. LOVE the 'Confessions' album - and I'm surprised she's returned to that sound agin - and LOVE 'Hard Candy' (can never figure out which one I like more) but it would be nice for her to do a completely different style. What, I don't know.

And I'm more worried about 'Revolver' - if that is the second bonus track - than this. If it sounds anything like Akon...

It is a fun, Summer track - I can see this being a bigger hit in the UK/Europe than the US, though.

You know what? "Revolver" is a crap song (based on the demo we heard) but I think it's a much better song than "Celebration".Plus,I think it would have a better shot on American radio.Maybe Warners should have chosen that as the first single?

What, I don't know. I like them both okay. Confessions more than Candy, but I think they were definitely attempts to pander to certain markets. Confessions to the euro/gay-dance crowd and Candy to US radio (although they really picked the WRONG 2nd and 3rd singles to fulfill that purpose).

they seriously need to go back to picking different singles for different markets. Revolver in the US, Celebration in Europe. same fot the Hard Candy singles. it's a crime that they released Give It 2 Me and Miles Away in the US. Beat Goes On and ... well anything else really would have been surefire hits. I know you love Miles Away to pieces, but there really is no radio market for that song anywhere in the world

God, that's a hard question... I really don't know! Like Prince, I'm happy to let Madonna (or any artist) trust their instincts and see what the results are. If I had a choice in the matter, someone unobvious - not a flavour of the month like Calvin Harris or Mark Ronson. Someone who really pushes her creative buttons - great soundscapes and brilliant melodies. Maybe... Tony Visconti?? It might sound a random choice but look what he did on Bowie's 'Heathen' album. And she's a massive fan of Bowie, too. Or Brian Eno.

Yup - like 'Lotusflow3r', I think after a series of commercial-driven albums, Madge now needs to throw down the gauntlet and do something really trippy, artistic and out there. But with it being the first for Livenation... I dunno. . [Edited 7/30/09 2:59am]

The song is quite good - upbeat and catchy, but i agree there's not much to pull you back. Its good for a GH lead single, and i think the production is a little dated, but i think itll get good radio play in europe and thats probably what she's aiming for.
As for the direction of her next album - im done with frivolous radio pop for a while. Im disco'd out by her recent stuff, so would quite like an album that is a little more introspective, with more organic music, and classic production. She will no doubt want to change direction now, im sure this is closing a chapter for her. Id like to see her write some proper stuff with song writers like Rick Nowells, Joe Henry, maybe even Pat Leonard again. Producer wise, well there are a plethra of them out there - i just want her to find someone she can bed down with for an entire album.

I like the verses, the chorus is still not as strong as I always said. It indeed sounds dated, could as well be from 2004 but who cares.
You US people got Revolver (which I like as well). Btw, Celebration was written by FOUR people. Madonna just seems to have written the lyrics. She's gotten lazy with melodies.

I find it weird she always robs great song's titles. Rain, Celebration, Music, Cherish.. does anyone realize that woman has stolen Kool & The Gang TWO song names? (I think their song Holiday came later than Ms?)
