They should have waited to have a seperate tribute to MJ with REAL legends like Stevie, Smokey, Whitney, etc. 'cause I don't know what the hell this is. I feel like I wasted my time with this. I definitely wont be watching next year.

they needed the ratings And that's exactly what they got: Strong ratings for BET Awards and Jackson tribute NEW YORK — The BET Awards turned into an impromptu Michael Jackson tribute and preliminary ratings show that it will have the event's biggest audience ever. Nielsen Media Research says the ratings from its 56 biggest markets showed Sunday's BET Awards were up 61 percent over last year. An estimated 10 percent of turned-on television sets were tuned to the BET Awards – an unusually large number for a cable channel. Nielsen says the show got a 5.8 rating in the overnight ratings. The awards ceremony has been held since 2001 and has never gotten more than a 3.7 rating. Several celebrities, including host Jamie Foxx, paid tribute to Jackson. The evening was capped by the emotional appearance of Jackson's sister Janet. http://www3.signonsandieg...ds-062909/ "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

I didn't think she was horrible, but she definitely didn't sound as good as she thought she did. Prime example of someone who would sound wonderful if only they had singing lessons. Just b/c u sound slightly better than the drunk folks at karaoke doesn't mean you can sing boo boo. She certainly didn't sound as good as the neck rolling she was doing would have you believe.

She's not a professional singer so why's she doing this on national tv? Plus she was emoting way too much considering her lack of skills. I woulda had En Vogue sing it acapella instead.

i thought the bet awards was full of nothing but busted weaves, cheap looking clothes. too much lip syncing, too much friggin jamie fox ( he took up half the show) and too much cutting to kanye and his future baby momma wearing shades. why o why must black people feel the need to wear shades in the indoors? does not make you look cool. makes you look like an uncool ray charles or like you are trying to hide some drug eyes. keyshia cole and monica were the best superceded by the ojays. other than that the show blowed. they couldn't even do MJ right.

The O'Jays >>>>>everybody else. That's REAL MUSIC right there. Even my cousin and I were dancing and singing along when the O'Jays took the stage. The only highlight of that show if there ever was one.

And that's why I criticized the show when I did, they could've waited. Like I said yesterday, it's a nice gesture but I'm not surprised it produced the results it did. It was insulting to me, you're doing your little cursing rap song and then throw Michael's name in there. I kept looking down at the floor when Drake and 'em performed saying to myself "Michael didn't die for this." [Edited 6/29/09 21:41pm]

[Edited 6/29/09 21:40pm] I agree, she made me tear up. She was beautiful but clearly in pain. I think she didn't want to be there but felt obligated. or maybe Joe beat her I dunno. I never liked him. A shady old coot if ever there was one. He doesn't even seem to be grieving for his dead son. And he is ugly too. p.s. Janet looked big. Is she pregnant or just eating too much again?
