It's true! Everyone who has come out that show is vapid and produces the same "safe", artless music that caters to people who don't really care about music in the first place. It's Eurovision for America. And it makes it that much more difficult for legit artists to have a chance to get any kind of exposure. It is a pox on our society.

Kelly Clarkson? Pop/rock-lite
Ruben? R&B-lite
Clay Aiken? Pop-lite
Fantastia? R&B/Soul-lite
Carrie Underwood? Crap country-lite
Daughtry? Nickelback/Creed/Hinder/godawful "rock"-lite

neutral

I don't agree with Ruben. Sure, Clay may have been the better singer and all, but people tend to diss Ruben and I don't appreciate it. Ruben is still trying to figure out what he wants to be. Unfortunately for him, with him being a big guy, America will buy his music because he doesn't fit the mold. Ruben should stick to Gospel music. His song with Deitrick Hatton is a really good song. Not to mention his 2nd album was really good and it was Gospel. Gospel is the only musical field that doesn't care what you look like. You will sell regardless.

For Fantasia, she should have won, considering she was up against Diana Degarmo. Jennifer got the boot several weeks before. Sure, Jennifer may have been more talented, but you have to remember, Jennifer was dressing crazy (how could we forget the pink pepto-bismal colored dress). She didn't know how to control her voice because she was so used to singing Gospel and showtunes. It wasn't until she started doing her own album that she learned the difference between stage performance and recording performance. As for Fantasia, she has done well. Both of her albums have gone platinum. Her issue is that she is not a cross over audience, but she's one of those similar to Mary J. Blige.

Now, agree with you about Taylor Hicks. He should have never gotten on the show.

Jordin Sparks won because the others weren't that great. Melinda was good, but Melinda did not have the same appeal that Jordin had.

So, by saying that Clay was the better singer, you ARE agreeing with musicjunky. People dissed Ruben not because of his weight, but because he has all of this talent and STILL does not know what he wants to do with it. He seems so afraid of letting the "real" Ruben,(who ever that is), that it has hurt his career. When he was on Idol, he was known as the "Velvet Teddy Bear" and got by, by singing Luther songs. He has lost 100 lbs since then so, calling him that is not an option. Ruben needs to do some real soul searching, only then will he know what his calling is. It may be R&B, Gospel, or none of these. Only Ruben knows for sure.

No, I'm not agreeing. I'm saying maybe he's not the better singer, but Ruben was the more popular singer that season.

Ruben did lose 100lbs before his last album dropped. He had a personal trainer, chef, etc. at his disposal. They had him on a vegetarian meal plan and he was doing really well. He was featured on Extra and a few other shows talking about it. That was about 2 or 3 years ago. He's since gained a lot of the weight back.

I didn't mean for the weight thing to come across as a diss or anything (God knows I have my issues).

I get tired of people saying that Ruben and Fantasia are the worst Idols and that haven't been successful when that is not true. Ruben's albums have sold and he has managed to get a r&b or gospel hit from each one. Same for Fantasia. Kidd Kraddick (a local dj and syndicated morning show) is always dissing those 2 on that. It really ticks me off. However, you mention Taylor Hicks and he shuts up or says that it is unexplainable why Taylor won. Just ticks me off.

Kris was the worse winner of all of the seasons of the show. Out of the top 13 this season, 7 or 8 were better singers than Kris. The outcome this year was very suspect.

I think Ruben should kind of do a more classic r&b album with live instruments and stop working with cookie cutter producers. However I dont know if that will help. R&b is not picking up on him.

Fantaisa actually sold well on her name, but other than Free Yourself...her singles never really peaked. She is another artist that needs to go the classic route because that is how she won. I LOOVED her last album, it had alot of uptempo r&b cuts that sounded well live. People slept on it and its a shame. Im glad it did eventually go platinum.

Fantasia has done very well, she actually managed to get a number one song off of her last album with "When I See You". I do agree that she should do a traditional r&b album, though.

I cant put stock in a show where a majority of the general public are voting for things like "high notes" and wardrobe, scandals, whos cuter, whos hotter, whos the biggest freak, whos hair is crazier.....with that said

Katharine Mcphee losing to Taylor Hicks, should have been the cancellation of this show, the reason, people loved her voice and thought she was the best, but people thought she had "attitude", this is a show about voice, not who you wanna chill with!! This year the Kris guy should not have even gotten that far, but this show was trying to stir up some extra ratings and i honestly feel that they may have thought a Kris and Adam showdown was better than a Danny and Adam showdown. Because almost every viewer was thinking Adam was gonna win, and then bam, he lost.

To me i tuned in early this season but saw some critical mistakes early on, and then a few getting cut way too early, but all in all, you are almost better if you lose on this show before getting to the top 8 because then you can almost write your own ticket.
