I thought about this one, too, but technically it's an Outkast album, eh? But I love it very much!

Off the top of my head and in no particular order.
Jill Scott: Who Is Jill Scott? Paul Midón : State Of Mind Nick Drake: Five Leaves Left John Coltrane: Coltrane Norah Jones: Come Away With Me Funkadelic: self-titled D'Angelo: Brown Sugar Lauryn Hill: Mis Education of Lauryn Hill Queen Latifah: All Hail The Queen Brother Johnson's - Look Out For #1 Sade: Diamond Life Donny Hathaway: Everything Is Everything Art Blakely and the Jazz Messengers: self-tilted. The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s Are You Experienced The funny thing about Jill Scott Cd.... I was listening to her debut Cd about 7 month prior to her "Blowing Up". I was then in Coconut Records and they were playing her Cd. A gentlemen had asked who was the artist cuz song after the song the lyrics and the music were refreshing, flowing, strong. Think at the time the Cd "How Is Jill Scott cost $17 and some change at Coconut. I went around the corner and bought it from a Mom&Pop shop Dr. Wax for $12.00. [Edited 4/2/09 6:01am]

I remember vividly listening in the shop when it just came out and trippin' when "Shoot'n Up & Gettin' High" started.A really new funkvibe had entered the scene. I'll never forget seeing her perform on a festival the same year, with Bootsy & Larry Graham who were peekin' behind the curtain with a big smile and their heads bobbin' while watching her and her band jam, lol !

If you like synths, this one's for you. All synths and the incredible voice and stylings of Alison Moyet. 'Only You','Situation', 'Don't Go', and 'Bring Your Love Down (Didn't I)', Now I have to listen to it . . . Probably a controversial selection but I remember I bought this when I heard 'Holiday', because I saw a career. I felt she'd have a career like Prince. I didn't like her voice or all the songs, but I knew she'd get it together. (When I became a Prince fan, I fully expected Prince to be around in 30-40 years, either with longevity or a la Hendrix, if he died.) I didn't expect Madonna to be performing 30 years later but I knew she'd be iconic. Why waste the name 'Madonna'? This one was jumping off a cliff with no net. But the risk paid off. Diana Ross presents the Jackson 5 Who is that kid SINGING?!! Probably the first man and certainly the first to public make the guitar a part of himself. I think every guitarists keeps trying to replicate that strength of expression. Jimi went left and the entire spectrum of popular music went with him. His version of the Star Spangled Banner says so much to me. It makes me wonder, "how does he says so much, with a guitar?" I'll stop here. for now. I thought about this one, too, but technically it's an Outkast album, eh? But I love it very much! I don't think so. Remember, as the story goes, "The Love Below", was supposed to be part of a soundtrack to his movie by the same name. Speaker Boxx was a totally separate entity done by Big Boi. The label would not let them put out separate albums (for reasons that escape me right now)so, they ended up putting both of them together. His first however as an adult. If you're talking about the Motown albums, Off The Wall was actually Michael's fifth solo album (Got To Be There, Ben, Music & Me, and Forever Michael coming before OTW), but I don't really count those albums. It was his first proper debut as a solo act.
