I've seen some of the gossip column stuff but I'm skeptical about those claims. We need some reliable inside sources! Geez, the first show is 9 July, right? Only three months away! We only know some of the dancers, where he's been rehearsing. That's about it. Info about the stuff like the band, setup, and such doesn't come out usually doesn't come out until the first couple of weeks. "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. What a wonderful guy!" It just seemed slightly out of place and I believe it was a significant slip. Telling everyone how you had to correct his timing, his pitching and get him to sing more powerfully is at odds with the intention of the interview, which was to express her gratitude. Obviously it was too strong a memory for her to keep quiet about it. Also, stories like this have to be taken in context of what we've heard of him on stage in recent years. We've HEARD his massive decline, so it seems silly to pretend otherwise. Even on record he doesn't sound as good as he once did. And I have never noticed him being off key on Off The Wall. He did record most of those vocals in just an hour or two though. By contrast, it apparently took him three weeks to record "Butterflies". Many of his Motown vocals (like "Ben" for instance) were recorded in a single take and they were all flawless. He didn't need three weeks to nail them. Three minutes was more than enough. [Edited 4/6/09 13:14pm] His most challenging album is "Thriller" and that was no walk in the park. Between getting the vocal arrangement perfectly together, mixing tracks, re-mixing tracks because the record company would send it back, deadlines, slight disagreements between him and Quincy because of creative differences, he was almost an emotional wreck, and no struggles at that time with laryngitis. Even with laryngitis now, it'll still take some time to get the vocal arrangement right, but either way, MJ will not give any record company garbage tracks, music that you hear today. [Edited 4/6/09 15:51pm] None of this has anything to do with the subject, which is Michael's vocal abilities. Please stay focused. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

The subject that I and others have been discussing has been Michael's vocal abilities, which is perfectly appropriate in a thread devoted to a live concert, since live concerts traditionally involve singing. You yourself have participated in this discussion. Angelwhateverhisnameis was responding to my post on that subject. He thought he was countering my argument, but he was actually talking about a completely different set of issues. Hence my request for him to stay focused. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Thriller named the greatest album ever
Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' has been named the Greatest Album Ever. The pop superstar's landmark 1982 LP - which is the world's best-selling album - dominated a poll of MTV viewers, securing almost a third of the total vote. Speaking about 'Thriller' - which was produced by Quincy Jones and features some of Jackson's best known hits, including 'Billie Jean', 'Beat It' and 'The Girl Is Mine' - MTV Base presenter Trevor Nelson said: "I don't think there'll ever be another album like it in the history of music. "There will never be a marriage of producer and artist, or songwriting and pop sensibility like that again. Due to the way people buy records now, there'll never be an album that sells as many copies." The list was compiled by music industry experts, artists, and bosses from the network's three UK channels - MTV2, VH1 and MTV Base. More than 40,000 votes were cast by fans asked to choose their favourite album since 1981 from a shortlist of 26 LPs. In a shock result, British R'n'B artist Craig David's debut effort 'Born To Do It' finished second with 12 per cent of the vote, beating Guns N' Roses' 1987 album 'Appetite For Destruction' into third place. Craig, who received more votes than some of the world's biggest rap and R'n'B stars including Jay-Z and Kanye West, was overwhelmed by the result. The '7 Days' singer said: "I am very grateful to the viewers of MTV who have voted 'Born To Do It' as the second best album of all time - not only am I incredibly proud, it is an amazing achievement especially when I look at all the other albums in the top 100!" British alternative rock band Radiohead secured fourth place with 'OK Computer', while the late Kurt Cobain's band Nirvana rounded off the top five with 'Nevermind'. Oasis had two albums in the top ten - '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' came sixth, while their 1994 debut 'Definitely Maybe' was seventh. Following Noel and Liam Gallagher's records are U2's 'The Joshua Tree', the Arctic Monkeys' debut 'Whatever People say I Am, That's What I'm Not' and Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black'. MTV's 'Greatest Album Ever: The Results' will be broadcast on MTV1, MTV2, MTV Base and VH1 on April 11 at 9pm. MTV's Greatest Album Ever Top 20: 1. Michael Jackson - 'Thriller' 2. He’ll be temporarily relocating to London, England this summer for a string of shows at the O2 Arena, and Michael Jackson has already picked out where he’ll be staying during his time abroad. The “Billie Jean” singer has selected a massive mansion in Chislehurst, just outside London, that boasts plenty of room both inside and out. Meanwhile, Jackson’s Thriller album has been voted the greatest album of all time in a poll of 40,000 music fans conducted recently by MTV. Jackson’s magnum opus beat out Craig David’s Born to Do It, Guns N Roses’ Appetite for Destruction, Radiohead’s Ok Computer, and Nirvana’s Nevermind.
