I NEVER hated her before, but since all the 11 year olds from 1999 are now 21, it's fucking unbelievable how a lot of them still think she's a viable music artist, have no grasp of the concept of live singing and actually put up on a pedestal of legends. Every word she utters or whines now on record gives me feelings of wrath. I just hate everything she stands for and the fact that this glorified Barbie doll has pulled the wool over the eyes of so many. Debbie Gibson was at least more deserving. Prince says he can't read music. So does Paul McCartney. Maybe they're exempt then, cuz they're actual musicians. Wow, that's quite a list you made there. Can't say I agree with all of 'em, and I'm not gonna go through every single one, but just to give you an idea: Michael Jackson: OK, so his more recent stuff is crap....but his older stuff like "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough," "Rock With You," "Beat It" "Bille jean," "Wanna Be Startin Somethin" & "Blame it on the boggie" is classic. Can't deny that. Black Eyed Peas: I liked their first couple of albums....especially their debut, that was much more conscious and featured more live instrumentation. The record label forced 'em to sound the way they do now though. Will.I.Am even said so when "Elephunk" got big. Again, the more recent stuff is crap. Peter Andre: Wow....talk about a blast from the past. Thankfully he's no longer recording. But if you wanna go back there, THEEE band that I could not STAND back in the early '90s...was Frente. Oh my God, I don't know what folks saw in them at all. That lead singer was beyond fu*kin annoying. Madonna: Used to like her, now I think she's VERY annoying. Her main aim was to shock folks, and that got old real fast. Plus, she couldn't sing for shit. Sounded like she had a bumble bee up her arse or sumthin.

Yah true I've heard that of Prince too but I'm sure it was not from lack of trying. The fact remains that even though he may not read music notations he has still managed to produce, arrange, compose and perform countless songs. It's known that many peeps are dyslexic when it comes to music notes but not with written language (the A B C's). Ur right though in saying true musicians are exempt and initially with that comment I'm referring more towards the vocalists. When it comes to Michael Jackson, when I was a kid I didn't mind his music, but as I grew up I just couldn't listen to it anymore it became underproductive and repetitive. If he varied his style and dance moves or at least had an element of originality then maybe I would. Black eyed peas I've tried to listen to and I find it has no substance whatsover and Peter Andre is waste of oxygen. Frente they were almost as bad as Steps! Ahh and then there's Madonna still getting attention by lifting up her skirt on the playground. Never thought anyone could make a career out of such behavior, but I guess since she has little or no musical talent... Apart from them I would add any vocalist that is classified as a diva. That would mean the J-Lo's, Carey's and Franklin's of the industry. Arrogance is quite a turn off. My musical spectrum is with the artists that defined a generation... ie quite a few people hate on Nirvana because they were dark and hard and screamed a lot. But that was pretty much how alot of people felt at that time and could relate.

Metal
I'm open minded when it comes to music,,,,but that genre closed it up And since this thread focuses on "MUSIC acts", metal artists are the only folks I could call musicians,,,,,that I don't like, that is.

Yeah, that's a really great comparison actually. As far as Nirvana's concerned....I actually didn't mind them....for some weird reason. Don't like 'em now though.

Ah, so I was half right then. Also take into account the fact that he was signed to Molly Meldrum's label and Mol used to hype him up all the time.

R. Kelly has written some really great songs for Michael Jackson: "You Are Not Alone" and "One More Chance." Also "Fortunate" by Maxwell was really good. I used to like "She's Got That Vibe," but then I realized he made a reference to "little cute Aaliyah." At the time she would've been about 12. Then he married her 2 years later. Charming.

meow85 said: R wrote You Are Not Alone? I remember seeing a documentary about the "History" album on TV many years ago and it was confirmed on this very documentary that "You Are Not Alone" was indeed written by R Kelly. He even told a story of how he was imitating his vocals on the demo, which is why Mike sounds the way he does on the track, as opposed to that, sorta....constipated grunt or cum grunt that he was doing on virtually every other song on the album.
