But here's how I look at it: Prince has demonstrated great skill on numerous instruments. On the other hand, I've never seen MJ play any instrument in public. As far as him being more popular" than Prince, do you mean due to his historical record sales? Or that he's a tabloid spectacle? Please tell me why, in your own words, you hate Michael Jackson so much and want him to fail at this. I don't think anyone here WANTS him to fail. We are simply making rational statements based on our observations. I.e., his last performances (MSG, plus some TV appearances) were crap, he hasn't performed in many years, he has a history of failing to show up for things due to sudden illness, etc. A lot of us wish he could still consistently put on great live shows, but I don't expect to see that happen at this point. okay i will say this again playing an instrument is NOT that big a deal, millions of people on this earth know how to play instruments, i don't see why you people try to hype it up cause prince can, heck i learned how to play the trumpet in school. anybody can learn big deal

Who knows? There can be healthy discussion of MJ as most posters have done but somewhere along the way, it becomes a pissing contest between MJ fans and Prince fams. I like P much more, but I can't hate on MJ. His contributions to the pop music world are well known, but I think people are turned off by the MJ hype machine, especially given the fact that he hasn't really released anything noteworthy since Invinceable. It is like a public spectacle is needed by MJ to remind people of who he is versus new music, which drives the fams a little crazy. Some folks still can't get over the "vitiligo" thing or the recent trials and tribulations he has had. In the end, just enjoy the opinions here. Everyone has one. "Old man's gotta be the old man. I don't see the point in coming to diss MJ even out of jealousy. Prince has 3 new albums out at the end of the month. If you don't like MJ, bask in the Prince material. We ALL love Prince here anyway or we wouldn't be at the Org in the first place.

It's so immature to say that someone is 'jealous' about any of this. There's all this 'comeback' talk when he hasn't yet done a damn thing except wave, say a few words and do some goofy moves that looked totally retarded. That's not jealousy speaking, but reality. I think the difference is the denial factor...those who believe in Peter Pan and those who know it's a fairytale.
There's already a story out today about him wandering the hotel lobby and having to be helped back to his room by security. He's cracking and I don't mean his face. (and yes I realize the source, but since the UK press is apparently blessed when they print positive stories, then ya gotta take the good with the bad.) http://www.newsoftheworld...-Park.html By Robert Jobson, 08/03/2009 POP legend Michael Jackson was told to beat it when he turned up in the lobby of his posh hotel looking like a Rockin’ Robin. Staff thought the melty- faced star looked off his face as he lurched around the Lanesborough Hotel near Hyde Park in the early hours of Wednesday. He had to be held up by minders and led back to his suite, but friends refused to blame it on the booze—insisting he was simply jet- lagged, unable to sleep and suffering from stage-fright ahead of his big comeback announcement at the O2 Arena on Thursday. A hotel source said: “Michael shocked us with his behaviour. “He was wandering around the lobby in the early hours looking completely spaced out. “The security team had to help him back to his room. It was not what we were expecting at all. “He was asking staff for DVDs to watch in his room as he was having problems sleeping. I am not sure he knew what time it was.” The 50-year-old singer — famous for his trademark moonwalk — made a series of frantic calls to his mum Katherine, 79, in the US for reassurance. The source added: “Michael spent the first two days just shut away in his suite, trying to get his head around his comeback. “But it was clear he was quite nervous about the whole thing. “He had a series of long chats with his mum, seeking assurances that everything was fine. Even though he is 50, he seemed to need his mum’s words to keep him focused.” Jacko also declared he wanted to make his peace with Paul McCartney. The pair fell out when Jacko outbid him for the rights to the Beatles songs. The source added: “He was asking for Sir Paul’s number, but nothing came of it.” Jacko, who went to see the hit musical Oliver on Friday, stayed in the top floor of the Lanesborough in a £7,500-a-night suite along with his guards, four kids and their nannies He is hoping to break Prince’s 21-night record for the most consecutive gigs at the 02 and has confirmed 10 shows in July, with others expected to be announced soon. A source said: “Michael is determined to prove he can still do it.” And 350,000 fans who have registered to buy tickets clearly think they’ve Got To Be There to see it.

Jeesh the guy couldn't sleep & he went down to the front desk & then he couldn't find his way back to his room. Who hasn't had the same thing happen! As long as he makes good on his concert commitments then he can wander around the hotel lobby every night as far as I'm concerned.
How wacko he is is a given these days so the big question is can he pull off the shows. The press just wants make sure if he fails they are there to cover ever little mistake.
