£75 is about $105 at today's exchange rate. cool Not an outrageous amount, but I wouldn't go even if I were in London as I don't expect much from him at this point.

I'm not flying, but I will be coming over from Belgium to see him by myself, I think (if I can get tickets!).

I'm sceptical.

He gotta sing, i.e. turn the mic on otherwise it's just bullshit.

don't forget we've heard the "this is the last show" before, a good sales tactic. they are all hedging bets with "10" shows (including the 3 that will be cancelled due to a "cold" or whatever). if it's well recieved you can be fairly certain more dates would follow. On the other hand, if he tanks....

nothing would make me happier than for him to knock it outta the park, to demostrate again the raw talent and none of the bullshit.

but for me I don't care about the dancing (there's no point trying to recreate the past energy of the 81' or '88 tour performances - the dude is 50 or whatever - we didn't see prince do the splitz at o2)

Give us those kick ass tunes, with the kick ass live band - some greg, some sugerfoot, some damn smokin' david williams, and beg pretty please a live horn section, and most of all (on top of that band!) his atonishing pipes.

Oh and leave that retarded, suck ass hands free mic in the trash, which is where the manufacturer should have put it in the first place.

as for the presentation, skip the played out recreation of the played out videos - they were awesome in '88 and '92, but those tunes are stone cold killers - there is no end to the reinterpretations possible without the need for back breaking moves.

he should IMO also mix it up a bit and play some tunes not performed live before. It's not like there aren't plenty to pick from - burn this disco out anybody?

ahhh, but I'm in fantasy land probably - only July will tell us for sure.

Oh good I see I'm not the only one. I'm 19 from Australia and have never even gone on a trip outside my town by myself but I'll be damned if I miss this and I seriously doubt he'll be coming here any time soon.

I very rarely bother getting into any discussions about Michael Jackson. I am not a big fan but certainly appreciated him when he was at his peak in the 80s (I own vinyl copies of Thriller and Bad but never replaced them on CD). It is very sad indeed what has happened to him since then because he was definitely an amazing entertainer.

I saw the BAD tour and it was amazing as a theatrical show. Amazing dancing and pyrotechnics etc. However, it is a very different experience to a Prince show (hey I'm a Prince fan on a Prince site so guess what...I prefer Prince). The difference is that Prince's shows are a combination of:

1. Musicianship (Prince's own ability to play lots of instruments very well)
2. Real live singing
3. Dancing and performance (remember those Lovesexy shows?)

For me Prince is simply in a different league.

However, I hope for the MJ fans that he does come good on this announcement because if he does end up cancelling that will surely be it for his already dying career!
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

You ARE in Fantasyland. The same one I'm in. I eep having delusions of what the perfect moment would be. Getting front row tickets, MJ performing some sucky ass Billie Jean shit and then stopping in the middle, turning he mic on and breaking into a stripped down set of Give In To Me, Bless His Soul, Liberian Girl, Whatever Happens, One Day In Your Life, Human Nature (without the robotics) and Stranger In Moscow.

Then he'd of course do my ultimate fantasy of covering P Control.

I should be charging £75 a ticket for people to see what's going on in my head.

Good to see that MJ has kept up to date with the times (credit crunch/economic crisis) and set prices accordingly!! The man has obviously thought what country still see's me has a genius rather than a has been liar? UK, lets copy Prince and see if i can rip off as many of my fans as possible. 10 nights, lucky if he plays half of these. Im in no doubt they will sell out BUT im sure that in the next few weeks he'll announce another 10 nights, oh and then he'll try the same in the US then Asia, Australia etc etc.Playing live surely means live in all senses, not just turning up and saying I Love You in between pre-recorded tracks.
AND ON THE 7TH DAY OF THE 6TH MONTH..GOD CREATED FUNK!!!

Michael Jackson adds 10 more dates to comeback tour

6/03/2009

Jackomania gripped the world again yesterday, and we can reveal the comeback star is to stage a further 10 London concerts.
The dates, in addition to the 10 already confirmed by the singer this week, will be announced to fans imminently.
The news comes after nearly a million people registered for tickets – enough to fill the 20,000-capacity O2 arena at the former Millennium Dome 50 times over.
And the website to register for pre-sale tickets is reporting 14,000 hits a minute.
A source said: “There is no question Jackson has still got what it takes. The fact that he has been away for so long has only added to the clamour for tickets.”
Meanwhile friend and business manager Dr Tohme Tohme has spoken about the star’s planned comeback.
Tohme, who is staying with ***** at the Lanesborough Hotel, West London, said: “He has come back to put an end to all the bulls**t rumours about his health. I think he has answered his critics.
“He is back to his old self – he’s fine, and couldn’t be in better shape. He was away for all this time because he was dedicating his life to his children and being a single parent. This is the reason he took a break from music.
“It was his idea to make a comeback because he misses his fans and his fans have missed him.”
*****, rumoured to have caught MRSA and have respiratory problems, has always denied that he is in poor health. Last night, he was set to go to the theatre with friend Mark Lester to see Oliver!
Lester, 50, played the title role the 1969 film adaptation of the Lionel Bart musical.
At the launch on Thursday ***** vowed: “The Moonwalk is coming back.” His O2 residency begins on July 8 for 10 nights. The 10 extra shows are expected to run soon afterwards.
Randy Phillips of promoter AEG Live said that the dates are the first step of a three-year tour with plans for concerts in New York, Mumbai and Paris.
It is estimated the London shows and merchandise could net ***** up to £50million, and with a tour to follow this could rise to £280million. Tickets go on sale at 7am on March 13

Great read. DA KING is Baaaaack!!! (It's about time Mike). I'm on this unbelievable high. Can't travel to London, but as soon as he hits the states I will be there to witness, imo, the Greatest Entertainer to ever live. I want new stuff, but I NEED to see the live MITM & Billie Jean performances again. I need that. Also, Smooth Criminal. Can't wait can't wait CAN'T WAIT.

Why would Prince fans be jealous? They didn't have to wait 12 years for their idol to resume touring.

Why are MJ fans coming here to provoke Prince fans anyway?

Why does everyone hate Michael Jackson?

Is it:

  • Because he had millions of plastic surgery?
  • Because he's a kind, generous person in a world of people who aren't kind and generous?
  • Because he was accused (and proven not guilty) of child molestation?
  • Because he went through a trial that sucked the energy out of him, and made him not want to return to popular music until at this very moment?
  • Because he's more popular than Prince, although on the same musical level?

Please tell me why, in your own words, you hate Michael Jackson so much and want him to fail at this.

hmmm If all the tickets were priced at £75 (and they're not), then 666,667 tickets would have to be sold to generate £50 million.

OK, maybe they're thinking merchandise sales will also bring in a lot of money? Or is there going to be a corporate sponsor? Otherwise I don't see how the math works out.

Yeap he has pre-registered orders of 540,000 so he's added 10 more dates... biggrin

Actually, this is an interesting idea. Prince has covered MJ in recent times...it's only fair if MJ covers Prince!

If I could start a new MJ thread (!), I'd ask which P song Jacko should cover. Or just as important, which song(s) he should not touch!

Mod's?! wink

lol I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that. But here's how I look at it: Prince has demonstrated great skill on numerous instruments. On the other hand, I've never seen MJ play any instrument in public.

As far as him being more popular" than Prince, do you mean due to his historical record sales? Or that he's a tabloid spectacle?

Please tell me why, in your own words, you hate Michael Jackson so much and want him to fail at this.

I don't think anyone here WANTS him to fail. We are simply making rational statements based on our observations. I.e., his last performances (MSG, plus some TV appearances) were crap, he hasn't performed in many years, he has a history of failing to show up for things due to sudden illness, etc.

A lot of us wish he could still consistently put on great live shows, but I don't expect to see that happen at this point. neutral
