I actually think he was a little more genuine-sounding without cards in front of him. When he speaks from prepared notes, he tends to sound a little wooden. Oh, well. He said what needed to be said. [Edited 3/5/09 14:46pm] Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

NaughtyKitty said: Jacko: The Final Curtain Call
Michael Jackson didn't have much to say when he finally hit the makeshift stage at the O2 Arena this afternoon. The press conference for his big comeback was scheduled for 11am, EST but went off at 12:42pm. The reason given: Jackson's van was stuck in traffic in Blackwall Tunnel between London and the arena. Jackson strode into the Arena looking pretty healthy considering all the reports of his near death or fatal illnesses. Indeed, his face looked recently refreshed by cosmetic surgery, which would explain the many pictures of him with scarves and bandages. His mouth and chin are now more reminiscent of Steven Tyler. With the hair, he could also be confused with Carly Simon. But it's Jacko, he's wacko, and he's backo. In his few minutes on stage he told the crowd of fans that he loved them and that he'd see them in July. He also promised to sing all the songs they loved. Other than that, Jackson had nothing else to say except that he wasn't "kidding" and this would be his "final curtain call." But Jackson must say that to sell the number of tickets required to make this effort a success. His worldwide fans must be convinced that they will never have a chance to see him again. But in reality Jackson - who wouldn't know the truth if it moonwalked on him - said it was last appearance in London. Whatever. Now producer AEG Live has to ensure that ticket sales take off like a rocket. To do that they've taken over total sponsorship this Sunday of "Dancing on Ice," on Britain's ITV Network. The producer will show a three minute clip of Jackson's videos, touting the shows. Let's just hope that Jackson himself isn't skating on thin ice. http://www.foxnews.com/st...09,00.html He needs to do a few final performances in the USA. If he's smart, he'll do that and not shut out his American fans. I love the fact that before Friedman got it wrong and now it coming out with some more possible bullshit. Prehaps the only entertainment reporter on Fox News but just like any Fox reporter, filled with bullshit! I'm not a huge Jacko fan (I'm causal at best) but I'm only happy that this is happening to prove this fat fuck wrong! Also, it might be a good show.

It will be very sad. The shows themselves will be very sad.
Michael will lipsynch. Michael will do they same whack moves. Michael will try (yet again) to recapture the glory days of Thriller. I was a huge MJ fan for 20 years of my life. I even saw him & his brothers perform at the Garden in NYC back in 2001. Terrible performance. He was lipsynching to vocals he recorded 20 years earlier. I mean, c'mon...if you are going to lipsynch, re-record the vocal track at least. If I wanted to hear the album, I could've stayed home. Prince is a true Artist & Entertainer. Michael is so out of touch with performing, well, like I said, it will be very sad.

He didn't look well, I actually felt a little sorry for him - especially his hands. I thought Prince looked bad around Gold era, how wrong was I?
That being said, he will sell out (no pun intended). Whether he can do 10 nights without mishap is another thing. Did anyone see Jon Snow on C4 news say "After Prince made a successful comeback last year." I obviously shouted my correction at the TV. Also Jon, Prince never stopped touring or recording. The thought of MJ getting stuck in the Blackwall Tunnel was quite amusing, as that seems to be my occupation of late

I love the title of the O2 shows: "THIS IS IT!" LOL. Great humor.

This Is It may be funny, but I can see the puns coming. Let him sing playback, let him dance badly and it will be called: This is shit.
But he always had such titles. Calling an album (the most awaited album of the 80s?) BAD was brave, and let's think of all the "funny" remarks like: He's no thriller anymore, he's completely off the wall. Kids should beat it before MJ gets them coz he's dangerous...

"This Is It" is funny to me because of my sense of humor (and my recognition of his obvious sense of humor), not because I want to make fun of MJ in any way. Of all cool titles to choose from, I bet he chose that one for some type of comical purpose/relief. Yes, I believe Michael Jackson knows its funny, LOL. When I first saw the phrase, I imagined him shaking his head side-to-side with his eyes closed, while waving his hands and saying loudly: "People, thank you for attending, but this is IT!." But I get what U're sayin'. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

That was eight years ago and since then he hasn't perfomed "live" once. Seems unlikely he'll be better now than at MSG, and he'll likely be worse. Maybe I'll be proven wrong but I know which way I'd bet. "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Don't you think he wouldn't have agreed to live performances if he really had trouble with his nose staying on
