Marvin Gaye - In Our Lifetime I found this one on wax a couple of years back and I've been jammin to it ever since.
Here's the title track.....it's mo' fonky. "Come let's all get fonky, if you dig the right Please let's all get fonky if you dig the wrong."

That whole album's the greatest (especially the LOVE MAN sessions)!
I love that title track tho. [Edited 2/17/09 1:41am]

Easily. I hardly do threads on Marvin but whenever he's brought up, I'm usually one of the first to reply.

On another note, I think Maxwell probably got inspired to write "Now At The Party" after listening to "Far Cry." I was instantly reminded of him when I first heard that song.

I was thinking of Marvin today when I listened to "Got to Be Down" by Robin Thicke. That song reminds me more of the stuff from "Here My Dear" though.
This was not my fave Marvin album. I have to really be in the mood for it. I used to love "Heavy Love Affair" though. [Edited 2/17/09 2:16am] "Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

It reminds me of a Caribbean-styled Rick James funk song, that is if Rick James had used Caribbean beats in his punk-funk, lol.

I thought that this album was fantastic!
And "Here My Dear" as well. I almost bought the remastered version (of "In Our Lifetime") recently, but I decided against it only because I already copied to CDR from the LP. Also, it was a bit pricey. Originally it was $50.00, then it went down to 40.

His most underrated album IMO. The deluxe edition is essential.

That beat and melody is funky. I love the "heavy, heavy love affair" refrain and the whistling (or was it synthesizers, lol). I am listening to this album now and I am enjoying myself. Now I remember that "Life Is For Learning" was my other jam! Love the bassline...."groove baby, grove on the light....one time!" lol Ok, I can't resist "Love Party" either. And I love Marvin's background vocals on "Funk Me"!! I'm glad I dug this out...good times lol "Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

Agreed. "Praise" is my joint. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
