A lot of kids just listen to radio or tv on their own, without waiting for a parent to pick tunes out for them. That's how I was raised. That said, my very first album I bought on my own was Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill, and we all know what delightful language she used on that number. I was 8. Alanis should have had a Parental Advisory label on it... lord knows if it was rap, it would have.

I was refereing to the Amy character in that song. And the way it could be interpreted. "Fuck off" or "fuck me" what makes the difference really when both include the word "fuck" in it, and a profane word. Still my point was missed My post was mainly to the parents and them having a fit over such language in a song(s) NOT about Britney in general. If you havent gotten what I was saying OR the point I was making (like Anx and vainandy were as well), there really isnt any sence of me explaining and going on any further with you. [Edited 1/26/09 8:35am] I get what you're saying, it's been said 1000 times before, kids will learn swear words anywhere, yes I know. The diff between "fuck off" and "fuck me" is pretty big. Which one would you prefer your kid to sing? A harsh way of saying "go away" or a dirty version of asking for sex? THAT'S why parents are all worked up.

THAT'S why parents are all worked up. It's a matter of interpretation. Saying "fuck off", "fuck you", "fucking (insert adjective here)", "I don't give a fuck" is just a profane way of making a point as opposed to "Damn, she's so hot, I'd like to fuck her so hard!" which is a very direct sexual reference. I'm sure most parents don't want their children of elementary school age going around singing the former, but they will especially go into fits about the latter. The last thing most parents want to do is to go into that whole "birds and bees talk" with their children long before they are ready to comprehend sexuality. Having said that, while I understand why some parents and religious groups would vehemently object to this song being played on the radio, I'd be just as concerned about all of these sleazy dating shows like Flavor of Love, Rock of Love, A Shot at Love/Double Shot at Love, or some of the bimbo shows on E! like Sunset Tan and The Girls Next Door that show incredibly inappropriate behavior by adults who should know better and more often than not have episodes which should be rated TV-MA but are shown during the daytime on weekends when kids are around to watch them. Yes, the parents should be smart enough to change the channel or shut off the TV, but enough people apparently watch these shows to keep them on the air.

My conversation is over with you, maybe you should slowly re-read Anx and vainandys posts as well THEN read mine again (its got to do with NOT WITH just the language its a whole slew of things dating back to Tipper Gore) Never did look up the Tipper Gore situation did you? (here is a hint: its also has to do with lyrics being violent like killing cops, women, beating women etc etc etc. NOT JUST the language) [Edited 1/27/09 1:18am] Smurf theme song-seriously how many fucking "La Las" can u fit into a dam song

Never mind the influence it might have on children, that has to be THE single worst example of word-play in a song lyric I have ever come across in my entire life!
How can anybody be willing to put their name to such utter, utter, utter crap?! Makes Ebenezer Goode by The Shamen seem like the height of wit. This is not an exit

I wasn't talking to you personally, it was a general question to show why these people are getting wound up. I know all about the Tipper Gore ordeal, I'm a Prince fan for Chrissakes! I really don't know why you're giving me this bitchy vibe, I was just discussing the subject at hand and making sure you knew what the title meant since a lot of ppl in here haven't understood it! Sheesh.

Sheesh. I KNEW exaclty what everything means ty. I am NO 2 year old either. Just because ur a P fan dont mean you know everything about the 80's, I was there and grew up in the 80's. It was ALL bands and groups. You cant just read about it. You had to be there to understand WHAT the sticker and parental groups were about. Im done. Sorry but your still not getting it. There is no bitchy vibe as you claim I was explaining or trying to explain there is more serious shit then cuss words. Which one would you prefer your kid to sing?
Yes you were asking me and getting personal about my personal life. In bold above in previous post. Move on. [Edited 1/27/09 2:49am] Smurf theme song-seriously how many fucking "La Las" can u fit into a dam song

Yes you were asking me and getting personal about my personal life. In bold above in previous post. Move on. [Edited 1/27/09 2:49am] What the hell? Just take a deep breath and read my responses again, I was NOT getting personal at all! It was simply a general question to show you why people are angry! I know what the parental sticker was about, Gore didn't like her young daughter listening to Prince sing about masturbating then compiled a list of dirty songs and eventually helped to make music censored or at least carry a warning. If that's not what you mean - say what you mean. OF COURSE there's more serious shit than cuss words, not everyone can do anything about said serious shit. And in my personal opinion, and considering Britney has children herself, I can completely understand why these parents wouldn't want their kids to hear the song...because its just asking to be sung back. I actually wonder how Britney manages to have If U Seek Amy and My Baby on the one album and not see how stupid it makes her look. One minute she's singing "f-u-c-k me" next she's singing about her children being a gift from God! But anyway, I wasn't trying to get personal with you, I wasn't trying to make you angry, I was simply checking that you knew what it meant. No reason to get worked up. Other people who came into this thread didn't take it personal and just answered the question! [Edited 1/27/09 4:45am]

You wont fully understand unless ur a parent urself, babysitting is one thing but being a parent is another. Other people may have came into the thread and stated their opinion but YOU seem to have a beef with me, and started to jump gong ho all over me, rather you see this or not. And its clear. Very. ( Even shows in the other thread when I was NOT responding to you.) Saying I was touchy and here in this thread. I can have my opinions about a song or topic that is different then others even you. Dont like move on but dont pick fights casue of a certain person. I voiced my opinion you didnt like it so what, big deal, MOVE ON! GOT IT! [Edited 1/27/09 16:04pm] Lady, I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm trying to calm you down. You didn't say "not everyone can do anything about serious shit" you just complained about how they shouldn't be worrying about it because it starts in the home. I agree with you although I'm not against the song being censored (or burned in hell) either. I don't need to be a parent to understand why kids shouldn't be singing "fuck me!" Come on now. I do NOT have a problem with you and you are taking this way out of context. It seemed like you didn't understand the song so I just explained it to you, it's really no big deal. I'm not trying to start a fight, there's nothing TO fight about! You are being touchy, someone was respectfully disagreeing with you in my Crimson and Clover thread (btw i will reply to whoever I want in MY thread) and you basically snapped back at him "its my opinion and im not changing it k thanks" - why respond like that? It just turns people off... You're the one who needs to move on here and understand I wasn't meaning anything bad, I don't even know how you're interpreting what I said as a personal attack.

Okay, I'm confused. Parents are outraged over this song but not outraged when she french-kissed Madonna on the MTV Awards??? I didn't hear any negative feedback from anyone when that happened. All I heard was how really cool it was when they were playing it over and over again on TV. [Edited 1/28/09 8:09am] "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
