I'm giving it another listen today. As much as I like Mint, this record did not move me much when I first got it. I can't say its my favorite.

I've heard that quite a bit. It is not their normal style but I love it.

I kind of soured on it at first because i was expecting that great
followup to living the luxury brown which is my favorite.
Some of the songs are a bit watered down but you can't front on
goldigger, why do we try, and the ballads nothing left 2 say, right here,
moan, and queen of come here go away. E-Life is solid but not the band's
best.
I like gratitude and just can't believe too.
Still loving living the luxury brown. headbang

I have the wal-mart version with Let it go on it. It's okay but nothing
special. It's sounds like it's kind of from From the mint factory cd era
i.e the track good for your heart. I would love to hear the bonus track
from circuit city's version Us.
Anyway mint always put on a kick ass show so they can take any of the few average songs on E Life and still put on a hell of a show. I can't wait
until they come back to charlotte.

Golddigger gets good at 3:41. Before that, its just okay to me. "Nothing Left To Say" sounds a little like classic Mint. I kinda like Back & Forth (a little bit) but Moan is the only song I can say that I can repeatedly listen to. Vocally and lyrically, I really like what they did with "The Queen Of Come Here, Go Away" but that annoying synth click in place of the snare really messes up the vibe in my opinion. I guess they were trying for innovative (a song with no kick drum) but it think it missed the mark a little. To be honest, as much as i like Mint, I am not fond of this CD. They don't really have any good uptempo jams (like Good For Your Heart or Here We Go Again), nothing particularly super funky (like Funky Weekend or Change Your Mind), no hot funk rock jams (like Fidelity or I Wonder If She Likes Me) and no jazzy jams (like My High, Asher In Rio or Spanish Eyes) I always appreciated the fact that Mint always delivered a little more than everyone else on their records. a kickass musical arrangement on one song, in depth lyrics on another, subject matter that others haven't covered (like "Missing"); they were always ahead of the curve. I let "Luxury Brown" slide because despite it being decent it was a slight step down for them musically. eLife is officially strike one with them for me. I hate to put them on the try-before-you-buy list along with Prince and many others but they are headed that way. I'll always respect their skills and the fact that they remained a band when everyone else went solo but this is sub-par for Mint. It pains me to say that.

Finally listening to it today.

I was initially put off by the "contemporary" feel of it. But they have some nice changes in those songs. Gotta get it.
