Mint Condition Finds New Life Link Feb 26, 2008 Mint Condition, known best for their '90s R&B hits "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)" and "What Kind of Man Would I Be," is back with its ninth album, "e-Life," due May 6. The set will arrive via a joint venture between the band's own label, CagedBird Records, and Image Entertainment. "e-Life" is Mint Condition's first release since 2005's "Living the Luxury Brown," which hit No. 1 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart. It includes collaborations with Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Phonte from Lil Brother and Anthony Hamilton, who is featured first single "Baby Boy, Baby Girl." Other tracks include the ultramodern-sounding "Why Do We Try," the mid-tempo "Golddigger" and "Nothing Left To Say," about a failed relationship. The group is plotting a spring U.S. promo tour, plus visits to Europe and Japan in the coming months. In addition, Mint Condition members are scouting new talent for the label, including an experimental jazz combo in which they will appear.

Anthony Hamilton?
So they've sold out to the modern R&B shit hop genre? Anyway, they've been saying this record is coming out for like three years.

I've heard a sample of one their new tracks and it does sound very unmint like but nothing left 2 say sounds like vintage mint. I hope they don't cave in to shit hop. I hope they keep true to the same formula as they did on luxury brown even adding a few rock tracks. They couldn't have been promising the album for 3 years because it has'nt quite been 3 years since luxury brown but they has been pushed back for about a year. I wouldn't consider anthony hamilton R&B shit hop. He is neo soul but his formula is beginning to wear thin. Don't laugh at my funk

Anthony is a soul tribute act about one step away from Usher and he's with a whole camp of essentially shit hop artists, and someone said they were messing with dude from Tribe too, so that scares me. The thing is as soon as real talent like Mint gets scared enough to put one of these lame modern dudes on their project it's almost all downhill from there, don't you think?

Ali Shaheed Muhammad from tribe actually toured with the band a bit on the luxury brown album. He was basically the dj on stage with the band. Don't ask why? Mint also did a song and video with shaheed on his solo album 3 years ago called banga and it actually wasn't a bad song. The video is on mint's live dvd that came out 2 years ago. I think before mint got their new record deal a few years ago shaheed was going to sign stokely as a solo artist to his label. Don't laugh at my funk

Ali Shaheed Muhammad has been working with Mint since Definition of a Band. He and Roger Troutman's son were basically "extended family" of Mint. A one song collab with Anthony Hamilton ain't gonna kill the band, either. They're still Mint Condition.

For those who haven't experince Dukey live then, they better get up on it. I had an oppurtunity to check him out when he toured with Stanley Clark.
