A jazzy version of Smells Like a Teen Spirit. Here´s what a czech Idol finalist did with Nirvana´s Smells Like a Teen Spirit. I´ve already posted some of his performance in my other thread, but I wanted to start a new one on this cause I think it´s really interesting.
Oh, actually he took it from this guys as I have just found out. Anyways, what do you think of this version? At first I didn´t like it that much, but it has grown on me. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

This sort of gimmicky stuff does nothing for me. It's supposed to be ironic, but mostly it's boring.

One of the most overrated songs ever.
I loath it with passion. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I don't know the name of the band though [Edited 5/27/08 14:19pm] there are quite a few albums over the years of rock standards done in a lite-rock/jazz manner, but you might be thinking of the Mike Flowers Pop Orchestra, who became quite famous for 15 minutes in the UK by piggybacking off of the success of Oasis. I personally find that overly arch, knowingly ironic 'aren't we clever' stuff incredibly irritating, like the broadest, lowest common denominator kind of slapstick comedy. That link that theaudience posted was quite good though. I've heard Heart Shaped Box done in the same way as well - can't remember the performer. I think Nirvana had a really unique sense of melody and that really comes through when you hear his songs played that way. [Edited 5/28/08 1:48am]
