Thanks for link! How does her earlier stuff compare to her more recent material? I thought Funk This despite being covers was really strong. Really liked the production too. Not steeped in shitty modern R&B.

The old stuff is the true nitty gritty For years I considered this my favorite of her albums: Then I had an absolute RENAISSANCE with this album after the death of my cousin, breakup with my ex and trip to see some org friends for the first time: Funk This is really quite enjoyable and should have been what she was doing from the 90s on but the early stuff is just beyond compare. The musicians are tight and fluid, the lyrics are saying something and she is just young and fierce and unstoppable. I am so excited for you to be discovering her older music 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

"Little Boy Blue" "Circles", "Everybody Has An Aura", "Ooh I Like Your Lovin" it's just packed!!!! Ask Rufus is good too probably the best constructed one the group has to offer [Edited 5/21/08 12:43pm] because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Street Player is good too speaking of which recently I noticed one of the tracks from Street Player (either "Take Time" or "Stay" one of the two) sounded very very similar to some moment of the Ask Rufus album once again I can't pinpoint... it's gotta have something to do with Claire Fischer on the strings I'm almost POSITIVE but yeah... I'm sure somebody here knows what I'm tawmbot @Aisha - I love that song to pieces for aside from "Sweet Thing" it is the very reason WHY for PINKY [Edited 5/21/08 13:40pm] because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

really check them ALL out and go in whatever order you see fit (that's what I did) but hear this one last: it can wait it's good too.. but an acquired taste it's on some Rotary Connection type shit but Chaka's wail is ever present Rufusized is really good too let Masterjam be one of the last ones you hear also... featuring Chaka Khan, that is because Numbers (the first album I believe they did WITHOUT Chaka, around the time when Chaka went solo) and it's still "Rufus"... you know? on "Pleasure Dome" though, you have to wonder did Chaka do ghost vocals Lalomie & the other chick had her sound down if you ask me a nice spin, Numbers is GAWD I hate I sold that wrecka back to da wrecka stow [Edited 5/21/08 17:01pm] because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

I'll pick up Ask Rufus and Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan. Ill probably have to order it as its hardly likely ill find them in the UK. I've just bought Come 2 My House which ive heard is pretty good considering it was a Prince production in the late 90s. What about her solo stuff what is her strongest set of songs? Thanks! Hate that album..love the cover and inside photos 'Masterjam' is not quite the masterpiece that it could have been."Do You Love What You Feel" is the highlight and a few other songs are okay, but this album is missing something.I suspect that Quincy saved his best ideas for Michael Jackson's 'Off The Wall' album, which he also produced in 1979.

'side! Things were bad between CK and the fellas. They started to record separately eversince she went down on Andre Fisher's head with a bottle of 40,,,and by the time they got 2 MasterJam, they couldn't be in the same room 2ghether(aside from Tony Maiden). And like you said, Uncle Q threw his good shit to the Brothers Johnsons and MJ @ the time.

Man... it's all about the "Naughty" album. In my opinion, this Chaka's finest solo work. You got "Clouds," "Move Me No Mountain," and "Hot Butterfly." This is a classic LP from top to bottom.

yes NAUGHTY is dope!!! I have a hard time picking a favorite solo Chaka record.. it would be Naughty or the self-titled one from '82 most likely because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
