What happend? God, I'm SO fimiliar with this fuckin' scenario [Edited 4/3/07 18:24pm] I took on a Madonna whore and Kylie Slut at the same time, giving props to each in their own right but slamming them pretty much the same and one guy rolled his eyes and asked me if I was serious when I told him Chaka was my favorite female artist ever of all time and that I didn't anticipate she'd be knocked from number one before I hit the grave. I guess Chaka just aint a gay Idol She's this homo's favorite Hey Harlie! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Oh yeah, when he rolled his eyes he started singing I feel for You and I told him that was the best Prince cover ever but that my love for her has nothing to do with her solo career and that she was an old school legend back when music was about talent, ability and music and he said he knew about Rufus and I was like why are you even arguing then!? He just looked at me all confused at how I could possibly be telling the truth. Damn, homos are this shallow?

Are we in the gay community so goddamned vapid that we can only function in the world of pop? Chaka's not the only victim tho. If I mention PJ Harvey or Me'Shell N'Degeocello I get nothing but blank stares as well 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

The only orientation required to know Chaka is the superior artist to entertainers like Madonna and Kylie is an orientation to music. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Chaka is a great singer and one of my favs too, but she does scream a lot and it gets to me at times too. However, I would take her anyday over Kylie (she's a joke IMO) and Madonna
Chaka has a style that these others broads will never have.

I doubt that Chaka screams for the sake of it, just cos she can.
I don't wanna sound clicheic, but when that bitch gets to wailling, you know this shit is DEEPLY mental and physical,,,,,waaaay far from the fancy wailing of the Whitneys, Mariahs and Beyonces who are too glamourous and afraid to get ugly in the face. Chaka is expressing herself through her voice like Jimi expressed himself through his guitar; chaotic, all over the place, spontaneous and honestly straight to the chase. With Chaka, you won't hear the prettiness alone, you'll hear the ugliness too, she'll give you ALL, thats how sincere and uninhibited her singing is. And another thing, she's one of the few soul singers who hasn't been bitten by the Aretha Franklin bug so to speak. She and Ron Isley have their individualist way of phrasing in the sense that you'll know both of them right off when they start singing. They're what you call "vocal stylists" Individuality and honesty, I guess thats why she has a firm "Chakaholic" cult-audience.
