I see we all agree on ABC
I thought I was the only one who appreciated 'The Lexicon of Love.'
Still listen to it regularly.

This 'one album per artist' business distorts my top 10. Here's my top 10 with no performer duplications:

1 ) The Fall - Hex Enduction Hour
2 ) Opal - Happy Nightmare Baby
3 ) The Feelies - Only Life
4 ) Teardrop Explodes - Kilimanjaro
5 ) Mekons - Fear and Whiskey
6 ) Go-Betweens - 16 Lovers Lane
7 ) Public Image Ltd - Metal Box
8 ) Spacemen 3 - Playing With Fire
9 ) Triffids - Born Sandy Devotional
10 ) The Bats - Daddy's Highway

Here's my actual top 10:

1 The Fall - Hex Enduction Hour
2 Opal - Happy Nightmare Baby
3 The Fall - Slates
4 The Feelies - Only Life
5 Teardrop Explodes - Kilimanjaro
6 The Fall - This Nation's Saving Grace
7 The Feelies - Crazy Rhythms
8 The Fall - Perverted By Language
9 The Mekons - Fear and Whiskey
10 Go-Betweens - 16 Lovers Lane

I think as for most people, one album per artist changes the list somewhat (I could have a top ten of Prince and Madonna alone!)....but here goes (in no particular order):-

Purple Rain -/- Prince
Appetite for Destruction -/- Guns 'n' Roses
Like A Prayer -/- Madonna
The River -/- Bruce Springsteen
Thriller -/- Michael Jackson
This Is Spinal Tap -/- Spinal Tap
Welcome to the Pleasure Dome -/- Frankie Goes To Hollywood
The Joshua Tree -/- U2
Back In Black -/- ACDC
A Momentary Lapse Of Reason -/- Pink Floyd

I hate the one album per artist rule. I'll make a list of my favorite 80s albums until I get to the first album by the 10th artist. Albums following the restrictions are in bold. All-time rank in parentheses.

2. Prince- Lovesexy (2)
3. Prince- Sign o' the Times (3)
4. Janet Jackson- Rhythm Nation 1814 (4)
5. The Cure- Disintegration (5)
6. Madonna- Like a Prayer (6)
7. Eurythmics- Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) (7)
8. Eurythmics- 1984: For the Love of Big Brother (12)
9. Madonna- Madonna (14)
10. Eurythmics- Touch (16)
11. The Cure- Seventeen Seconds (17)
12. David Bowie- Scary Monsters (26)
13. Prince- Controversy (27)
14. George Winston- December (28)
15. Prince- Parade (31)
16. Prince- Purple Rain (34)
17. The Cure- Japanese Whispers (35)

Damn...see, I got at least another 30 bubbling under.....

OK, This might be cheating, but my alternates:

Gaucho is a good call. I think that would've made my Top 10 instead of the Gregg Allman album.

I agree . . . Good call on Gaucho. I went with Roxy Music though.
Maybe because I was listening to Bryan Ferry last night.
