Prince never claimed to be anything other than Prince. Rick was cool (and I do love me some Rick...) - but Rick was limited... Prince layed down the tracks of so many different genres... and I don't see no rick.org.

confused

I grew up an hr. Away from his hometown but it was liked he lived here because folks loved them some Rick, he was here often not only playing but hanging & partying. I love his 1st 6 LPS. Check out his book Memoirs Of A Super Freak,Rick doesn't bite his tongue & it is quite entertaining.

Equally??? ok, if you believe that.
Rick James barely made it onto my I-Pod. There's 8800 tracks in front of him.
He never impressed me. Street Songs was cool and there are a few other songs but he's not someone I miss listening to.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

But to each his own.

In a sense it helped him too nod

Just like Lady Sings The Blues helped Billie Holiday.

Both are BULLSHIT representations but at least it re-introduced them to a whole new younger generation.

I like them both. I think rick was better at funk than prince but
prince was better at rock and that was because rick never really
gave rock much of a try(probably did not want to alienate his fan base) and i think rick would have been pretty good
at it but unfortunately drugs took control of his career.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

True that. Rick James is a true legend IMHO. And a man I don't think gets the props he deserve.
