thekidsgirl said: So last night I went to see Van Hunt live (for the second time) at the Black Cat in DC. It was a really good show and he was just as charming and silly as he was at the last show.
It was all acoustic, so just Van, his guitar and his keyboard. Im not good at remembering setlists, but some of the song highlights were : Popular, Character, Dust, Down Here in Hell, The Lowest 1 of my Desires etc. He had to keep telling the losers at the bar to shut the hell up, which was odd cause why would you buy a ticket to see the guy and then talk through his set??? But all in all it was a funnn show Afterwards I got to meet him again!!!! I was so excited He was SUPERNICE, and even kinda flirty I hugged him and he had his arm around me and goes "so whats your name?" I whisper to him "It's Stacey" and he says "you're over 20 right?" I say "Im 23..." and he's like "perrrfect then..." all along sounding so sexy I told him "I hope you feel better soon" (he had a cold, but still sounded great) and he said "I feel better all ready" and smiled we also had some random dialouge but I was so giddy I don't even remember what was going on Gawd! I loooovvvee him ...oh and I don't know what the hell happened to his hair!!! For the encore he took off his scarf and we all saw his hair for the first time in a while and there was a collective look of shock on everyones faces! I thought he was still sexy even though his do was jacked up It was like cut close on top but full at the bottom, like a reverse bowl cut I like van hunt's music but i will fight him for you stacey. You are beautiul. It must have been a cool experience to meet van hunt. When you met him did he say whether or not he has a new album on the horizon? Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

I wanted to ask him about the album release, but my friend thought that might be a 'touchy subject'....she also suggested that we not scream out for him to play SNM during the show If you will, so will I

I was there, and he was great. The set seemed rather short, but he kicked out the jams. Most of them were from the 1st and 2nd album. It would've been nice to see the most underrated Soul man of the 21st century to do some stuff from the new joint. We all booed when he mentioned Blue Note. But then he said that some of the reps of that team were in the audience. So he said, "just say BLUUUUUEEEE!!!" And he was funny too. I liked it. Every time you two start talking about shows I get mad because I can't see them . Okay, the Goldfrap show will pass through here, but I always miss out on alot of US indie acts at least

Awesome! It's great that you had such a good time, seeing as how you said you were feeling burnt out on him, but thought you'd get back into his music since you had this show coming up. I'll bet you'll be spinning nothing but VH for awhile now. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Thanks for the rundown!

I actually met him last year when he came to New York to play at B.B. King's Club. He was very kind enough to sign my "Jungle Floor" CD. I told him I liked it better than the first one, well, because I did.
thekidsgirl ain't jiving: Van Hunt is a sweetheart. I should've told him about the other underrated Soul man of the 21st century though: Jamie Lidell. A collaboration would be guaranteed FUNK! I did have a nice long chat with his guitarist, Paisley. He was cool dude too. I told him that he had the spirit of Eddie Hazel. It turns out that him and Eddie were actually buddies. They both friggin' rocked!!! Geez, I'm sounding like Zelaira here. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Plus I went up to hug him twice (the second time he looked at me, smiled, and said "hey, I remember you...you were just here" and he laughed and hugged me anyway) His whole band/ crew is really cool NWF, do you know his assistant's (?) name...the guy with the locs that sets up his stuff... Also, I'm glad you mentioned Jamie Lidell...I've heard of him and have been meaning to cheak out his music. Where should I begin?? [Edited 5/3/08 23:51pm] If you will, so will I
