Kylie Minogue: X I just listened 2 this album today (it's release was in November). I this CD, it's 14 songs of Aussie dancepop! If U run the U.S. version CD in your computer, then U get 2 download a bonus track called "Rippin' Up the Disco". However, there are a few things I don't like about the "X" album. The opening song "2 Hearts" sounds a lot like Madonna's "Like it or Not". But Kylie's been copying Madonna's music since the '90s anyway. The beat of "In My Arms" reminds me of George Michael! "Speakerphone" reminds me of Missy Elliot. The song "Sensitized" reminds me of Tori Amos. "Heart Beat Rock" has a hip-hop beat. "No More Rain" is a pretty happy song. "Stars" has intimate lyrics, but it's a fast track. The song "Wow" has the same retro-disco sound Kylie Minogue's been doing since the '80s. It especially sounds just like "Love at First Sight". The song "Nu-di-ty" is definitely my favorite song of the whole CD, it's so fresh & cool, I've never heard anything like it before! There's a foreign lady speaking in Chinese or somethin & laughing at the end of this track, too. "Cosmic" is the last song on the CD, a slow intimate song (the only 1 on the album, but "2 Hearts" does have a slow beat & "Stars" has intimate lyrics). The extra media track I downloaded called "Rippin' Up the Disco" is a loud dance song. Overall, "X" is a great album, and a fitting title, as it's Kylie's 10th. It's Kylie Minogue's best since...well, her last CD "Body Language"! [Edited 3/7/08 18:38pm] Stuck like glue!

I LOVE this album! But some of the b-sides to those tracks are BETTER! Like " Cherry Bomb " Which should of been the lead single. It’s a strong, catchy pop tune I could listen to all day . " Lose Control " A crazy Lil track that'll make you dance at first listen! " Carried away " This ones a cheerful dance track. I think some these should of replaced the weaker songs " No more rain, and Nu-di-ty " hardly listen able. Still a good album ether way.

The version of X with black cover art was the better-looking design, I wonder why they went for the white with the regular version too.

I dl'd it and I'm digging it. Not sure if I'm sold on it enough to buy it yet, though. But I really do like it.

After a couple of months after its release (or shall we say, after it's been "available for acquisition...") "X" has proven out ot be a rather decent album that has a fair deal of lasting value. I still don't understand the inclusion of material like "All I See" (did they really think they had a massive US hit with that one just because it sounds like generic R&B?), but some of her strongest cuts are there as well.

It would be easier to say what I don't personally consider strong material: Nu-di-ty, All I See, No More Rain, and perhaps Heart Beat Rock (altough it's alright). The album could have been slimmed down a bit, but there's obviously nothing you can do about it.
"The One" is a classic new wavish electro pop gem, and "In My Arms" is pretty powerful stuff. I rather like personally songs such as "Cosmic", "Sensitized" and "2 Hearts", which could have been stylitically a whole new direction for her had the album been more focused on one style. But let's be honest, most of the cuts are quite well-crafted pieces all in all. Then again they had even stronger tracks like "White Diamond", "I Know" (okay a bit controversial, but it improves with further listens) which they chose not to release, and that is sort of odd.

I prefer those two as well, but I quite like X too. Don't get me wrong, you know I'm a Calvin Harris-head, so I immediately dug "In My Arms" and "Heart Beat Rock." Naturally, I prefer to hear those two songs when I'm @ a dance club or rollerblading. P.S. MSTRKRFT spun their remix of "Wow" when I saw them live not too long ago. [Edited 3/29/08 11:32am]
