i downloaded volume 1 but found it rather unentertaining.
does it open up a bit wider on the consequent volumes? im
thinking about buying them anyway just to support the new
model.

i enjoyed the whole thing, but i have a litmus test that i use for instrumental/ambient albums like this...i'll put it on when i'm doing other stuff like reading, housework, etc., and if i find there's a good ratio of active/passive absorption, then i will consider it a good instrumental/ambient album. NIN passed the test beautifully. lol

i'm gonna buy them later this week. i was hoping for some really nice
piano playing and the first two songs had enough piano in them but in
the process of listening i kind of became distracted by a million and
one chores so i need to listen again, more carefully.

my only big gripe about it (and this is only after one full listen, mind you) is that i wanted it to decide if it was going to be a pretty/trippy ambient album or if it was going to be an angry/grindy fetish strip club soundtrack album. cuz, ya know, i'm happy with either, but sometimes i don't want chocolate in my peanut butter or vice versa. i think it can be a little jarring that way, although sometimes i think it segues between the two extremes nicely.

I've been playing this one too, but never the whole thing. I'm focused on just a few songs.
