This place must have been hoppin' last night because the internet wouldn't let me back in but that Will I. Am performance was such an embarrassment and total waste of time. Why? What was the point?

I sooo knew Michael wasn't coming on the show.

Glad Herbie won and loved the clip of Kanye sitting in his seat hoping to God he would win. Why does he put so much emnphasis into winning metal?

I agree! Beyonce needs to sit her tired ass down for awhile.Just once, wouldn't it be nice to watch an awards show without having to see her, always trying to steal the spotlight?

I'm tired of this whole thing where they pair up a classic artist with one of these newer acts. The Time with Rihanna?! What's the point?

I thought the show was great last night except I missed Alicia and John Mayer's performance. I thought her duet with Frank Sinatra was pretty damn good.

My favorite performance of the evening was Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli! Of course, Andrea is always amazing, but I was particularly impressed with the quality of Josh's voice last night. I thought Josh sounded wonderful, too. Sometimes to me, Josh's voice sounds a little thin, but last night his voice was really full, and complemented Andrea's very well.

I also want to get Herbie's cd. I check this site and don't recall a thread about it? But I love Joni Mitchell and.. the whole concept sounds great.

The only thing is that I recall Sypro Gyra won (an upset win, too) best album a few years back. Aren't they considered a jazz group?

I'm happy Herbie won even though I'm sure a lot of people were shocked about it.

BULLSHIT.

That was one of the best performances of the night.

I was saying "bitch better get off the stage" about Rhianna, because The Time had NO TIME.

By the way...They're regular touring band smokes the original lineup, according 2 that performance...

Basically a boring night.

The Alicia Keys/Sinatra thing was cool. She did alright, and she was singing with a vocal legend. I'll admit that it's strange they didn't put a real jazz singer in with Frank, but anyway...

Gospel segment rocked.

Good seeing Prince, but his comment made no sense at all.

The Time sucked, compared 2 what I've seen and heard with their regular touring lineup, and they could've had more TIME before that high forehead, non-singin', overrated beanpole called Rhianna ruined it.

I wanted 2 smash my TV when Kid Rock was somehow allowed 2 sing a Louis Prima song with Keely Smith. WTF???!! They could've had Tony Bennett singing "That Old Black Magic" instead of that non-singing moron.

Funny that there wasn't any MJ stuff at all, not that there should've been.

The Tina Turner/Beyonce thing wasn't 2 bad, but with the outfit that Tina was wearing, she should've been singing "What's a wardrobe assistant got 2 do with it"... it was just WRONG.

Seeing my boy Herbie Hancock win was cool, and they really did a good job with Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue".

Oh yeah, about Amy Winehouse. I felt bad 4 her.

Peace.

Nope.

Because it's creepy.

Sweetie, if the members of Naras didn't vote to give Amy the award, it's because
THEY DIDN'T WANT TO. If you don't like the way the academy votes, then get yourself on a minmum 5 commercially released projects (with a music role or otherwise) recognized by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, then request an application for membership, so you can help to influence future votes. These are peers voting amongst peers for what THEY like, we in the general public really can't influence or try to overturn their voting choices. You might wanna let this one go shrug

Way to go Amy!! I'm so happy for her even though she didn't get album of the year. Her Back to Black cd is my favorite of this past year!

Beyonce and Tina were awesome and Aretha sounded great. I really enjoyed Alicia Keys too.

Kanye is a fucking arrogant idiot and I'm so glad he didn't win for album of the year. I'm glad they kept his wins in his genre. Album of the year would've just been wrong. He's one of the biggest assholes I've seen in ages except for maybe 50 Cent or Old Dirty Bastard (or whatever his name is).

Congrats Amy!!! Keep making great music!

Oh, and I have to say....I'm glad the show had nothing to do with any of the Jackson's!! And, it was great to see the Time again.

I kinda liked the Beyonce peformance. I like the way she moves. But you´re all right that it´s the same people over and over again.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Overall, the Grammys were super boring. I will never get those 3 and half hours back and that's a shame. But here is my take on certain parts of the show:

Alicia Keys and Frank Sinatra: That left me going "Why?" It did nothing for me.

Prince: Anytime Prince shows up, you know it's going to be on and popping! I loved that suit! It was also cool to hear him name all the nominees. Very different.

Tina and Beyonce: Who else is sick of seeing that heifer known as Beyonce? She needs to go somewhere and sit dooooown. Tina looked horrible in tha metallic mess that looked better on the hood of a car than on her. But with that said, I'll take Tina and that mess of a look over that wanna be know as Beyonce.

The Time and Rihanna: The Time was robbed. They deserved more time than they got. In a way, it was like it was 1983 all over again when they had to be the backing band but this time to Rihanna, a girl who has limited talent the same way Vanity had limited talent, except she didn't wear a camisole.

Kanye West: the performance was alright but unfortunately, the death of his mother didn't make him any more humble then he was before her passing. I'm sorry for his loss but he still ain't shit to me. I'm glad he didn't get the Album of the Year award.

Amy Winehouse: She was good. Of course she could have been better but it was what it was and I was entertained. I don't believe she was high and it made me feel better when someone had posted earlier that his friends working at the place where Amy was saw that she wasn't high. She was obviously scared as hell but her reaction to winning Record of the Year was priceless. I loved her acceptance speech.

Album of the Year: I was shocked. That came out of left field but Herbie Hancock is a fantastic musician. I saw him play at the World Finacial Center , next to the World Trade Center when they were up, for a free concert when I was 10 and he was great. It's nice to see a real musician get an award like an AOTY.

No Michael or Janet Jackson: I must say I'm glad that didn't happen. They'll be a time for it but it was last night

Just my twocents on the matter.

lol When I saw who Kanye was up against, I knew he wasn’t winning for best album. I wish they had showed his face when Herbie won. If the passing of your own mother can’t humble him, I don’t think anything can.

I'm glad I watched Rock of Love instead of this crap. I did catch Little Richard and Prince is looking more and more like him as the years go by. They need to stop with the John Waters stache.

I caught Alicia, I thought she was pretty good. Loved Amy too, of course it wasn't the best performance but it was entertaining. She's such a floozy I love it. And I don't think she was high, she's just not 'right' yet. Hopefully this experience has opened her eyes and she can embrace the talent that she has and continue to get better. I mean she performed Rehab...how tongue in cheek was THAT??!!!! lol

Did anyone see Natalie Cole on the news after the awards? They asked about her thoughts on Amy Winehouse during the show. She said she didn't think Amy deserved all those awards last night and she was not happy about it. Talking about how she needs to get her life together first & you don't reward bad behavior.

man--they should have just waited til the strike was over. for this to be a 50th grammy awards it should have been 100%. I mean ll cool j doing a classic. classic clips from the grammy's. ( may have missed that). it seemed like jay z's camp were all over the grammy's winning awards and I think this is their first one? yeah jay z may have attened a couple but dang I wonder if he had a hand in making this thing happen with a barter or something. I was happy his camp won some awards but there were so many good cd's that came out I think should have gotten acknowledged. Kanye always whining and then gets five awards and has the nerve to tell the guy who started the music on his speech about his mom to cut the music. (okay kanye)

I don't know what was up with the time performance. who ever posted the fact that there were no close ups of the band was right. I was wondering if jesse johnson was playing guitar (if so, he looked like he got a bit big) and rhianna I like, but hell the band even looked like this performance is going no where. only like one minute of her performance went with what the time was singing. yeah that was bad business. So was the kid rock performance.

I loved the tina turner performance. why the plastic surgery I don't know but she has it going on. It was one of the better collabos.

this really should have been a better show. fantasia and her beau looked cute together.

the only award I didn't agree with was the one with hip hop r&b combo. that should have gone to the song let it go or any of t-pain's collabos.

I don't know who amy winehouse is but she sure was a big winner.

will I am I liked the lyrics but it wasn't good.

kanye was good and it was good to see him do a tribute to his mom. I wondered how he was doing.

didn't get the herbie hancock winning either, but he made a good point. the grammy's is about music styles across the board.

Jay z and rhianna looked like they were in love instead of him and beyonce when she won her award towards the end of the show.

I think it was quite a good show last night. The performances by Keys, Amy, Tina, Little Richard and (The Time) were worth watching.

The big Minus of the night was Kanye! What in god's almighty f*ckin world did he do to Daft Punk's music?!!! This is beyond disgusting. This pooptoast needs to be stopped immediately!

Much like many people do on this site (and especially this thread), she is mixing up personality with art/product/whatever you wanna call it.

If the music is good, it's good...no matter what the person is like or going though.

Well a good album is a good album. Although I've been a fan of Amy's since she first emerged I must admit I haven't been able to enjoy Back to Black or her success like I did years ago. I hope one day soon I can look at her differently.

He won Democratic primaries and caucuses in Washington state, Nebraska, Louisiana, Maine and the Virgin Islands and on top of that he won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for the audio version of his book, "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream", even beating out former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.
