I honestly think MJ is having confidence problems with his appearance and not being on stage in so long. Plus the fact that he is close to 50 years old. Maybe he feels he can't do it like he used to,or maybe he is insecure about his appearance now. I just say appreciate what he brought to the table when he was in his prime at the top of his game. [Edited 2/10/08 21:11pm] [Edited 2/10/08 21:12pm] Mike ain't a musician anymore. He's basically in Axl Rose territory now. We'll keep hearing about this mysterious album that'll never see the light of day. He was great back in the day, but he's a has-been. He'd rather be a shut in than get out and perform and try to be a normal human being.

I never take fans seriously when they expect mj to show up out of nowhere, but I felt like there was a good reason this time to expect michael or janet to show up, but they didn't. Prince called him and told him don't bother "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I couldn't look at Amy Winehouse from the waiste down. The only time I see legs like that, are with anorexics. Whatever energy she has, it's not from food supply.

But it's a good idea the tribute was pulled. Who in the hell wants to see Akon perform "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'"? "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. doesnt lil richard *hate* jerry lee lewis? none the less that was a great performance.
i gotta say i dont see why folks are b*tching about the show...this is the first time ive watched the grammys in ages and i actually enjoyed it...loved the foo fighters, loved tina (and tried to mentally block b'weave and tina's nipples), loved the time (and tried to block q'tip), loved the second part of the beatles tribute (and tried to block the circus freaks), loved the gospel performance (and tried to block reeree's watermelons). overall i enjoyed the emphasis on the music. and one final note, im really not seeing why folks thought winehouse was high...i thought her performance was good...not great but nice. DevotedPuppy said: missfee said: thats because she actually was high. Helllloooo....it was like 6 or 7 in the morning in London. (Not saying she couldn't be high) but she probably either had to get up at 3 or 4 to get there, rehearse, hair/make-up or maybe she stayed up all night. I thought she was fine and her surprise at winning seemed genuine to me. I guess maybe you're not used to recognizing modesty, being a Kanye fan and all. It wasn't as late as 6 or 7. But, yup, it was in the dead of night and they pretty much had to reverse from a day schedule to a night schedule to do this. I have a lot of close colleagues that worked this gig in London. For the record, no ,she was NOT high, but she was scared pretty shitless, and had no chemical substances to bolster her confidence (thankfully... even though it was not a good performance). She was also under the watch of a nurse from her treatment facility. Additionally, her father, step-mom, and her mother (who doesn't really get out much because she is ill) were pretty solid in forming a protective ring around her for support. When she wasn't holdng on to her mum, she was playing pool to calm her nerves. She didn't perform anywhere near her ability. But it's important for her to get clean first, then she can get a coach and get her chops back to where they used to be. I'd rather see a singer scared and botching notes than using a crutch just to be able to even get onstage. Recovery from heroin is a bitch (it's such a widespread addiction over here and depressing to watch) , it'll probably be a loooong while before we see the Winehouse we knew pre-2007 with the voice she used to have .

She kept doing that Axl Rose hip shit and then tipped her head back a few times. She realized she had a wig on and held on to it as she got excited. Then, she kept pouncing her foot. First thing I thought was wow, whatta man! Under certain circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer.

Damn it all to hell!!! My internet was out last night and I couldn't get online during the Grammy's! Bite me, Comcast!!
First things first... Who in the hell was the old sexy thang in the red suit that gave Alicia Keys her award, he seemed vaguely familiar? Why in the hell did Rihanna get to do two songs, taking up valuable time from The Time? They could have done the Walk, Cool, something worthwhile during her extra time! What the fuck was Beyonce doing? Contrary to what your mommy and daddy keep telling you, you are not EVERY woman, boo boo! The poor child was all off beat during Proud Mary! She was in too much of a hurry to shake her ass and she even stepped on Tina's foot!! Bitch, go sit your ass down somewhere, please!!!! Speaking of Beyonce, did anyone notice all the body language between Rhianna and Jay Z, when she won her award? I've never seen that much affection, touching or anything else for that matter from Jay Z and Beyonce!! Amy Winehouse was sober, yeah!!! Why the hell did she get an award for refusing to go to Rehab when we all know damn well that's where she needed to be? Loved Kanye's performance and him checking the Grammy people during his acceptance speech! You go, boy!!! I missed the end though, I fell asleep after Vince Gill cracked on Kanye, that was funny...sorry Kanye but it was!

I don´t know if I am happy about that MJ thing not happening or sad. I am sure that if it happened, he would not get praised for it, but I was looking forward to see him...
I think Tina was the best. It´s unbelievable she´s 69. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."
