And I will forgive you. That's in my nature. No accounting for taste, mate. You being off the age you are, as I am, Off The Wall and Thriller had the WOW effect.

The Bad movie started out great (even though it had Wesley Snipes) but then he transformed into Sonic The Hedgehog.
It did not work for me. Or my sister. Her reaction, after Bad the movie; "really, really bad."

I quite like Off the Wall, but Thriller is pretty overblown in my opinion.

My ears hear 4 great songs:

Beat It
Billie Jean
Human Nature
Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'

1 good song:

P.Y.T.

2 decent songs:

Thriller
Baby Be Mine

1 bad song:

The Lady in My Life

1 horrific song:

The Girl Is Mine

falloff falloff It's only one of the best songs that fool ever recorded as an adult lol hammer hah!

I sort of agree with The Girls Is Mine but i wouldn't say it's horrific. But The Lady In My Life? eek That's his best love song ever. It's also the only love song where he actually comes across kinda convincing as a lover.

I agree. The only MJ slowjam that's better than "The Lady In My Life" is "I Can't Help It" from OTW.

My three favorite songs on 'Thriller' are...

"Billie Jean"
"Human Nature"
"The Lady In My Life"

I also think these three songs have aged really well, compared to the other songs.

Just listened to "The Lady in My Life" again. It's got uber-cheesy production and sounds pretty non-descript. I guess it isn't awful, but its presence (and especially the presence of "The Girl Is Mine") disqualifies it from being Michael's best album for me.

Jam and Lewis borrowed the melody (slightly) from "The Lady In My Life" when they came up with Janet's "Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun)".

Nope! Not really a big "quiet storm" fan. I love the ballads on Rhythm Nation though, and some of them on each of her subsequent albums.

I like the ending of "Funny How Time Flies...." when Janet tells the guy she's gotta go and he convinces her to do it "one more time",lol.

I was a fan of hers in the 80s.I liked her first album, especially the song "Come Give Your Love To Me" headbang I bought 'Control' and 'Rhythm Nation' but for some reason,I didn't really like the albums that came after that.

I said this over on P:M&M and I'll say it here. I personally got a kick out of the author saying that Madonna (and Prince) do glammed up oldies shows. I'm used to hearing that with Prince but to see that said about Madonna made me laugh. With that said, I'll take 50 yr old MJ, Madonna and Prince over 20 yr old Hot Mess anyday.

The author doesn't know what he's talking about...."glammed up oldies shows"?? For the most part,Madonna doesn't even do alot of "oldies" on her recent tours. Her recent tour in 2006 featured maybe two or three old songs, most of the songs were the 'Confessions On A Dancefoor' album. Her 'Drowned World' tour in 2001 mainly focused on 'Ray Of Light' and 'Music',with only a few old songs thrown into the setlist.

If someone's gonna diss Madonna, they should at least get their facts straight.

Articles like this happened when they all turned 40. I guess 50 is the new 40 and everyone should stopped being so concerned about their age. These kinds of enduring careers last a lifetime.

The writer already pinpointed it, and I've made the same points myself elsewhere. It's because she's been around so long. Also because she's seen as a symbol of female empowerment, so to point out how awful she is means you must be anti-feminist. Total bullshit of course, but remember, the media is run by pussies and sheep. They generally diss people only when a collective decision has been made.

The ironic thing is her views of female empowerment are questionable. What has she done for the feminist movement?

I think it's amazing that,at their age, they're still in the game, still enjoying some success (well,Prince and Madonna, anyway). That should be the REAL STORY.These days,it's nearly impossible to have a career that lasts more than a few years.

I disagree.I don't think Madonna gets "a pass" at all. She's gotten her share of criticism throughtout the years. In the early 90s,she got slaughtered by the media for things like 'Sex' book and movies like 'Body Of Evidence'.However,I think she (rightfully) gets alot of respect for her ability to bounce back,re-invent herself and keep herself relevent. She has handled her career much more effectively than most of her peers, including Prince and Michael Jackson.
