I turned off my radio about 13 years ago and haven't missed it one bit. Thank God for the Internet- I've discovered a great deal of music that I adore that would never be played on the radio. In my top 15 albums of 2007, I think a grand total of maybe 2 singles cracked the top 40 anywhere in the world.

Good music (at least to me) will continue to fight the good fight and sneak through the ether and find its audience.

I make my living doing music and I get lots of inner satisfaction from knowing that I can create the soundtrack I hear in my head rather than looking for it from an external source..You are 200% correct ! Shit Sucks nowadays !

Hey, @ one point I thought I had everything, everything I truly liked. I rediscovered stuff from artist that I kind of overlooked or knew about and did not have @ all, while doing that found some that I had no idea existed, from Funk,Rock,Blues,Jazz,etc. I look at it as new music for me, and better than some of the music being made today. Although you need a turntable because it's all on vinyl.

I know what you mean. I grew up listening to disco, funk, and later house music which was similar to disco. When every single form of R&B slowed down to the tempo of classical music, I started listening to rock. I be damned if they didn't start stripping off instruments and slowing things down also calling it "unplugged". Everybody seemed to be losing their rhythm.

That's when I started going back and buying old rock. Since I wasn't into it much growing up, it felt new to me. Now I've just about bought all the old rock that I like that I can think of. I'm at the point now that I'm ready to go back even further and buy some Andrews Sisters "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B". It's a damn shame that I have to keep going further and further back because these dull asses today can't speed things up.

until early 08 which is not unusual for artists to do. The email i got said
that the band had been playing snippets of the new material at some of their recent gigs so the new album should be out early 08. Mint is one of my favorite groups as well.

There's alot of great music out there if you're willing to find it. You can knock mainstream music all day and you'd be right. But trust me, there was no shortage of crap back in the day. It's tempting to get good ol' days syndrome and just write off everything current as weak sauce. But that's when you know your really old, when your just too damn lazy to find the good stuff.
