Who misses Janet Jackson's old music.

I know that she has released good material today such as All For You, Damita Jo and so on but don't you guys think that her older stuff was more the bomb! She had some tight music back in the eighties such as When I Think Of You and Rhythm Nation.

i wish that sex was not her focus.... because it annoys me so bad thats all she talks about... Damita Joe... i couldn't listen to a few songs on there.. because i don't want to hear about what she wants to do with her or his genitals.... KEEP YOUR PRIVATES PRIVATE...

I think because of her just wanting to have fun and talk about sex all the time.. like that was the only thing in the world.... she didn't focus on her music... or really try to put effort into making hit songs.. or creating unique videos that could withstand time....

the last JJ album that i enjoyed.. and had EXTREME excitement was the AFY album.. i remember i just was sooooo excited about that album... I Have never been that excited about buying an album... and now Janet albums... i definitly want to check them out... but not that exicted...

and the 20 Y.O album was pretty decent.... it had elements from RN and Janet and even VR.... you guys like those old songs from RN such as "lonely" and "someday is tonight".. but on 20 Y.O she had songs that were similar to that style... and you guys say you like AFY and songs like "Trust a Try" or "You aint right"... she had songs on 20 Y.O "this body" that was similar to those songs....

YES janets last album need to have two or three smash hit songs to pull the album... but overall.. she had nice songs..

I agree. That's what bothered be about Damita Jo too. I did like 20 Y.O. for the most part.

I hope LA Reid reels her sex drive in a bit.

Hell, I just miss the Janet Jackson with a personality and a brain in her head. She can put out all this crap music she wants to. I don't have to buy it or listen to it anymore. What's disappointing is that I just don't have respect for her as an artist or a human being anymore. She's completely lost every last bit of charm and appeal that she had going for her all those years. And she used to be one of my absolute favorites. Top 5 until this decade. And now when I'm asked to list my favorite acts of all time, she's like an afterthought down past #30.

I miss when Janet was more harder and used to be more forceful on her tracks...The Knowledge! Pleasure principle, Rhythm Nation, Black Cat, New Agenda.

Now it's just fun short and sweet.....I kinda want Jan to be in her 'got to fight the power' mode again

Yes i agree... hug I like when janet has those hard, funky dance songs.... STRONG dance songs... NOt just some typical sounding song on the radio... sorry Janfans but "so excited" was NOT exciting... it was typical and the noise was annoying... it definitly was far from a hit

sad So do I. However, I constantly anticipate what she has to offer. I was listening to Damita Jo today, don't give a care what anyone says there were some tight joints on that cd. SPENDING TIME WITH YOU is my jam.
Althought, ISLAND LIFE is my favorite cut on that cd. Wow! The strings on that track are out of this world.

But, you know it's always great to go back to basics or come back home. If artists that have stood the test of time can do that, it's definitely a plus. cool And a positive note.

So, maybe it all comes down to should she've changed as a artist or stayed the same. Some say, she needs to or needed to change it up. Some say, she needed to stay as she once was. It's like a dog chasing it's tail. Truth be told, fans and nonfans will NEVER be pleased no matter what she does.
So in truth, she's better off being true to herself no matter who agrees or disagrees with her course of action(s).

i agree Mam.... and you know what... I still think that people who are truely fans of janets work would have liked 20 Y.O.

I cannot understand how someone can claim to be a JJ fan and not like 20 Y.O.

evenbefore i bought the album i previewed it on the computer.. and it sounded great to me.... and those were 30 sec clips... i got the album and loved it

I definately miss the Janet of old. This current Janet sucks ass. As long as JD fucks with her music, she won't ever be shit again. It's so ironic cause the song "Come Back To Me" came on my iPod tonight and I was thinking about how much I loved Janet back in the day. I miss her and if she ever comes back, I'll be there but as of right now, I'm over her. sad

She still has it in her:

"island life"
"r & b junkie"
"i'm here"
"roll withchu"
"enjoy"
"take care"
"get it out of me"

- are all great pop songs. People just don't want to give her a chance anymore, so they don't.

- But i am tired with the whole sexually explicit thing. She should have got it all out of her on one album and moved on like somebody else who i don't want to mention.

As an artist, fair enough, but as a human being? Did she piss in your cornflakes? What has Janet done to make you lose all respect for her as a human being? She seems a lot more human and personable than most other stars. I reserve my lack of respect for people like Britney, who do drugs and abuse their kids lol

That's another thing. I wish Janet would stop singing stuff that makes her seem like a ho. I'm tired of the "fuck me now" songs all the time. I miss the Rhythm Nation Janet. The Control Janet. I don't mind the sexual songs but its overkill now.

I miss the old music and the attitude—manufactured or not. But then I believe I’ve just outgrown her and what interested me before, no longer does. The excitement and thrill of seeing If for the first time or Rhythm Nation, the sensual grooves of Anytime Anyplace and Funny How Time Flies...Even at her concert. It was the first time I'd been and seen people just sitting around. I remember being so surprised. I don’t know if it can truly be recaptured. That was then, this is now. I think I’ve just moved on.
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

True, she handled nipplegate with grace and dignity. She bascially had the whole media against her, when DJ came out even black radio did not want to know her, she has very little support unlike Britney and Amy who have people supporting them and wishing they get back on track. Janet had none of this but kept doing her thing, she has to be admired for that.
