I don't even listen to the radio anymore because music STINKS... it really is bad.... the last time i could listen to the radio and enjoy every song was like 2002.... after that music went down hill..

it sounds so cheap, the stuff they talk about is stupid... the actual music itself sounds terrible...

The truth is no one is unique because no one is allowed to be because of the media. No one is allowed to grow, no one is allowed to NOT SELL, no one is allowed to build a following via touring. Everything is thrown at you as the next big so and so, as i said before this generation is the HYPE generation, everything is an event a spectacle, and as always the case, those things are always let downs. Instead of letting albums just come out, BUZZ has to be created, whether it be stupid BETS about who is going to sell more, to HYPE surrounding someones arrest or media meltdown. The thing is, its not about Music anymore and it hasnt been, that all died when soundscan took over, when it all became bottom line and first week sales, and dont tell me that shit always was the case. Because no one at a label in the 70's was sweating week 1 sales of Stevie Wonder or Elton John records. Just a simple example, do you think a band like u2 or Inxs could come up now in these times? NO WAY, both of those bands didnt really catch on till about 4-5 albums in, do you think that a label would sit back and have someone like Rihanna build a following over 5 albums?

I met her about 10 years ago when DC was first introduced and she was a beautiful girl and sweet, but COUNTRY as HELL!!!. When she opened her mouth, you could tell she was definitely raised by fifth ward's finest. She didn't really start to change until after the 2nd DC album took off and she started working with diction coaches.

I can't even tell you what songs came out in 2005 and 2006. Those two years were not memorable in the least. Last time I remember was 2004. 2007 seems to be making up for that.

No. I don't think it's all bad at all. I think lot of you just aren't giving it a chance or maybe it's a generation things I don't know. I didn't really care for my parents music and they don't care for mind.

but some of those hiphop songs like Hurricane chris, solder boy , I don't like. now I do like Beyonce, Justin and even Rhiann .

anyways.... one christmas... my mom bought me and my sister this cute lil barbie radio.. I think i was like 11 years old and my sister 12... and we turned on the radio.. to this channel is was oldies 100.. and we would listen to doo wop music when we got a chance... and that was the only radio station that i knew about... then when i was 12 years old in middle school... my bus driver would play the radio in the morning and evenings... so thats where i first heard other music..
i thought every thing was soo cool... cause it was my first time listening to music... i would have liked anything....

well except for when i first heard rap.. i thought i was stupid... it sounded like people were yelling... I used to make fun of it.... but now i really have a reason too...

for a few years, I was saying that music today is shit, but in the past 3 years or so, there have been good songs here and there, although I know a lot of it rips off old school music and it makes me mad that people don't realize it. I totally can't stand crunk or shit hop when it comes to today's music, but I like songs by rihanna, ne yo, beyonce, maroon 5, timbaland and his puppets though I can hear old school influences all the time in them. I prefer older music, but don't totally shun myself from newer stuff, cause there are tons of songs I like, and tons of others that I really hate. I prefer the veteran artists michael, janet, madonna, mariah and prince best though, and crank their stuff the most.

Musically, I loved 2006. I remember it was late May or Early June of last year and I was in a parking garage playing music in my car in L.A. and I was just absorbing all of the music, all of the energy, all of the things I was discovering, everything I felt and at that moment I just became overwhelmed. It dawned on me how much of a rush I felt from the music. You know the feeling you get when you know something isn't going to last forever and you're witnessing the mortality of it, but yet you feel how beautiful it is and how overpowering it all is?

I love when music can be transcendental like that.

The music of 2006 that I listened to was amazing. The shows I went to. The things I felt. The energies, the feelings. I can safely say it was bliss. If no one understood it, I understood it. It was such a feeling of transcendence.

I love that I experienced it. That's all I can really say.
