No metal acts besides Sabbath and AC/DC and Van Halen have been inducted.

Blame it on Jann Wenner, that Rolling Stones founding bitch for being a popularist. rolleyes

Metal has always been given a bad rap anyway.

i think motorhead is about as metal as the ramones were punk. i know each band is permanently linked to those genres, but i think they were really just good, pure rock bands who just so happened to be embraced by particular subgenres. i mean, WTF...lemmy *IS* rock'n'roll. rock'n'roll *IS* lemmy. there's no difference between the two!

I know. Lemmy is a bad-ass by the way. The fact that they ain't induct them yet is proof some of the guys who vote the artists in don't know shit about rock & roll or who influenced artists in such a way that shaped the genre as it was in all of its formats.

Interesting that Paul Rodgers is up alone and not part of either Free or Bad Company.

IMO, he's one of the best Classic Rock voices out there.

I think the only way that would happen is if the Beasties qualified for induction before Run-DMC. No way the Hall would do that otherwise.

Two out of three won't be bad and by that I mean Donna and Chic. Madonna will get there next year. smile But then again it could be Donna and Madonna. lol I feel they gonna give Chic the shoulder again (much like the Dave Clark 5). But I think Leonard and John and Bambattaa are going in with Donna and Madonna. The Beastie Boys will have to wait AFTER Run-DMC are inducted.

Me too. I love all the major ones being nominated (Madonna, Donna, Chic, Afrika, Beasties, John, etc.). I hardly knew about the DC5 though. confused Or the Ventures for that matter... or maybe I did but I never knew the name of the group who sung this and that. lol

I don't see all of them getting in.

Donna seems to be doubly screwed. If Madonna gets in (BTW, is she a lock? Musicians are voting and they might hate her and resent her sucess), will they put in two female dance acts? If Chic gets in, will they put in disco acts?

At the very least let's hope Donna gets in before Gloria Gaynor!

All three seem to be in a dilemma. I feel the Hall of Fame may once again not give it up for Chic for some reason but they probably induct Donna just to get it out of the way. Madonna's induction will bring the Hall of Fame more attention. So it's tough how it'll be decided.

When are the results gonna be known as to whom get inducted.

But if you compare Ms. Summer and Madonna, Donna actually gets more respect for her material (from "Love to Love You" to "She Works Hard for the Money"), however, Madonna was always criticized for something. shrug I think if Madge gets inducted, the committee will be criticized for overlooking a legendary female singer who paved the way for current dance music (as Donna did), if Donna gets inducted and not Madge, Madonna fans will criticize the committee for overlooking Madonna. lol

Chic,Madonna and Donna Summer all deserve to be inducted, but because they did dance music,it's not a sure thing. For some reason,disco/dance music doesn't get the same type of respect that other genres get confused

I don't see why. Dance music has always been a part of rock & roll whether it was about "we're gonna rock this house tonight" to "let's do the twist" to "do the hustle!" I think that their attitude towards disco and dance is that it's pretty much the producer's genre but here we have two women who arrived in two different eras of dance - one came in just time of disco music's coming of age and helped to enrich the genre and the future of dance music and the other came at the end of the "disco sucks" movement and the end of punk to emerge as one of the first modern day dance divas and both of them have had done a variety of genres that are the essence OF rock & roll: new wave, R&B, techno, rock music, etc. and both have succeeded in what they have done. I honestly feel those two will be in before Chic does and I'm serious. But if Chic and the two women get inducted, there goes your disco fraternity right there, they're all right up there with the Bee Gees in my honest opinion and I say Donna has a better chance because LIKE the Bee Gees, she started off singing non-disco music (Broadway, folk and rock). Least that's how I look at it. Plus "Bad Girls" and "Hot Stuff" and "Last Dance" are songs I considered part of the cornerstone of rock & roll in my honest opinion. Donna is not to be put in a box, neither is Madge for those regards.

It'll be funny if Madonna gets in because she has a premonition of not doing classic songs. lol In those regards, she may not even PERFORM. lol But I bet she'll sang "Ray of Light" and "I Live to Tell" if that happens, probably do "Holiday" too. smile If Donna gets inducted, it's a guarantee that "Hot Stuff", "Bad Girls", "She Works Hard for the Money" and "Last Dance" will be the songs she'll sing. nod
