Janet or Michael?

Forgive me if it's been done to death.

Just curious about the org's opinion about these two.

Both are great in their own ways.

But who's the better dancer?

In terms of variety, I'd have to give it to Janet. She seems to have the most classical training and seems to be able to do different styles of dance.

Mike is great, but in terms of pure dancing ability (not talent -- because Michael seems otherworldly naturally talented), Janet shows more stuff on stage.

Britney vs. Justin

Britney makes Justin look like a paraplegic on the dance floor (current VMA performance not withstanding.)

Michael Jackson, hands down, is the superior dancer.

He was ALREADY a phenomenal (and better) dancer before all the choreographing. Look at the clip of the audition tape for Motown. It is available to watch on YouTube.

Aww, that was sweet. I see her as a strong second. There are many youtube clips of their videos meshed together as a dance off between the two. It's very entertaining. lol

Although they are both great dancers and entertainers, Michael is a natural (from age 5) where Janet is more choreographed. Though she knows how to sell sex and work her body now, when she first hit the music scene, she had one dance move (Anyone remember her "shoulder dance" from Young Love and Dream Street?)

We all know where this debate is going to go:

"janet can't sing, she is only famous because of her brothers, Thriller sold 100 million copies..."

But i choose Janet because:
- She still delivers when performing live
- You can get down to her music
- She is great a making slow, sensual, baby-making slow jams - which love

and oh yeah

- She's HOT

Being a dancer myself, I'd say Michael hands down cool

See! I prefer her slow and mid-tempo jams to her fast songs. She delivered with the choreography for I GET LONELY during her VELVET ROPE CONCERT. Simply, awesome!

Michael jackson of course....

but you know what.. janet is right behind him...

i say MJ is the best performer to ever live on this planet...

and janet is the best female performer... IMO... but i guess a lot of people will say janet has not talent... or they don't consider dancing and performing a talent..

I am so tired of people saying Janet is only famous because of her siblings. If simply having Jackson as a last name were the key to success, can you please explain LaToya, Rebbie(after centepide) music careers. Granted, Janet is no vocal powerhouse, but she has that "it"factor that made her successful.

And don't give all the credit to production, because Latoya had Full Force, which were one of the biggest hit makers of the time and till this day (hits for Britney, NSync, Backstreet Boys).

Please.

She has more charisma than the aforementioned siblings. But in the end what separates Janet Jackson from someone like Rebbie is Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

I suggest you read the thread entitled "What if it was Michael or Janet." There is an interesting conversation blossoming on the topic of Janet Jackson and her talents or lack of.

Besides, this thread is not about the lack of Janet Jackson's musical abilities but about her and her brother's dancing abilities. A field in which the latter is clearly superior.

First off, I am one of Janet's and Michael's biggest fans. I have see Janet from her first tour to her last. I have followed the jackson family since I was a child. I read very well and know what this thread is about, I was responding to someone else's statement, NOT YOURS. Chill out.

Oh yeah I read it. And I agree. She has more charisma than anything Rebbie, LaToya, or Marlon could muster in the '80s.

Honestly, I'd have to say Michael in his heyday was a far more mesmorizing performer. And I love Janet, and have never really been a big MJ fan. But looking at those concert videos I definitely see the thrill.

If that were true, then everyone else Jimmy & Terry produced for would have been huge. And, along those lines, since Michael wrote and produced for Rebbie, she should have been huge as well.

Bottom line is Janet and Michael possess the ability to perform to a much higher standard than their peers, and THAT is what separates them from their siblings (and many others).
